    Running wires through the roof

I know there are folks on here with roof-mounted lights, antennas and other. Are there any threads out there on how to run wiring through the roof? I'm curious as to how it's being done.

2017 doesn't downshift quickly enough, "lugs" when going up a hill

We run mid grade in our EL. It runs fine on regular but with turbos, the Texas heat and my heavy foot, I just bump it up a bit. I notice no difference in fuel mileage. I have a Jeep Cherokee TH that hangs in third unless you come to a complete stop. If you roll-and-go, it tries to take off...

    Rooftop cargo carrier

My 2007 EB EL was shipped with electrical gremlins and they were always messing with something.

    Rooftop cargo carrier

Yeppers. I'm thinking a dual battery project might be in the works if I can find the room. The reason I went with a 2000 amp inverter is because it's been sitting on my shelf for years and I need to do something with it. I have no intention of ever pulling 2000 watts.

    Rooftop cargo carrier

We (my wife and I) discussed this exact same thing last night. It's supposed to be stormy today but when I can I'm going to move it completely to the rear to see how that works.

    Rooftop cargo carrier

Well it’s on. I’ll need to buy a two or three rung step ladder to take with me. It looks a little small even though it’s the XL but that works for me. It gives me a space in the rear to roof mount a couple of NMO’s for the cell booster and a dual band. I also learned when I wash Moby Dick...

    Rooftop cargo carrier

Well, dang. There is one right up the road from me and with tax and all I got it for $211. Thanks for the lead!

    Rooftop cargo carrier

I was looking at the SportRack brand as well and was going to do more research. It looks solid and the price is right. Our carrier will be quasi-permanent mounted to start since our Expy is a weekender, at best, and long-hauler about twice a year.

    Rooftop cargo carrier

I'm going to do a bit of work to the EL to make it more of an overland-type traveler. My list includes a 2000W power inverter, more 12V and USB ports (my EL is a XL) and a Weboost since I don't have a built-in 4G hotspot. Any suggestions on a rooftop cargo carrier? Searching is a bit...

    Console shifter hole/gap cover thingie.

I'll check on the liners you guys are talking about. Right now I just got a plain welcome mat from WM, trimmed it a little to fit snugly and it works and looks great. My Grandson didn't even realize the middle jump seat was missing when I picked him up last night until I said something.

    2015 Select Shift Transmission Question

I've had a few vehicles with grade assist (not hill control decent in this case) and they have always been hit-or-miss in operation. Most of the time you're supposed to just tap the brake pedal to operate it but I never trusted it as it was never consistent.

    Console shifter hole/gap cover thingie.

I used this video to get an understanding of how the center console worked on my 2015 but it's not exactly the same. I didn't need to take my console all the way apart. Basically my steps were: 1. Remove the top center tray and remove the 7mm bolt. 2. Gently pry off the whole top piece of the...

It was $23.58 shipped...to my house anyway.

    Console shifter hole/gap cover thingie.

IDK as we bought it used but it was mentioned this might be an issue? I just know it crumbled like broken tempered glass.

    Console shifter hole/gap cover thingie.

I appreciate the link as that is what I needed. It's actually this part - https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-selector-cover-fl1z7d443aa/?c=bT0xJmc9Ym9keSZzPWNlbnRlci1jb25zb2xlJmk9TUMwNzUyMTUmcj0yJmE9Zm9yZCZvPWV4cGVkaXRpb24meT0yMDE1JnQ9a2luZy1yYW5jaCZlPTMtNWwtdjYtZ2Fz

    Console shifter hole/gap cover thingie.

On my '15, the piece that covers the shifter gap has completely rotted away. I have a suspicion that a cleaning chemical was used on it that caused it to dry out and just crumble to pieces. Regardless, any clue what this is called and were it can be purchased? I'm pretty sure I can fix it...

Hypertech Max Energy 2.0 - First Impressions

Hmm. I kind-of got away from tuners due to the 'money-spent-to-power-increase' not being worth it unless I was changing gears and tires, but it would seem per the chart and the report the increase on my 2015 EL would be significant. I like that 87 torque curve.

Power Running Boards to Fixed Aftermarket Running Boards

I guess I'm a little confused. I removed the boards from our EXPY EL due to their narrow width which made my everyone feel uncomfortable when they got into the vehicle, feeling like they would slip off. Also, the left board had somehow been bent right where one would step getting into the...

    Gas mileage ?

20MPG in "Fat Boy" (formerly known as "Moby Dick") is absolutely best case scenario driving only. My wife can touch 20 at times but only briefly. I didn't know 20 MPG existed until she drove it.

    Help please

My best guess is that something is making your truck think it's in a 'lost traction' situation and killing power. You need to pull codes first, as Andy said. After that, check for mismatched tires, a locked brake(s) or something in the steering wheel. Even a bad alignment can cause this if...

2007 Eddie Bauer over heating and ac issues

I would start with what Swagonmaster has suggested. I went through this with a car that was exhibiting the same symptoms, with a 'seasoned and trusted mechanic' who was a professional acquaintance of ours that charged me thousands of $$ replacing everything, including the heads, only to still...

HELP with purchase decision on a '11 Expy

I had a 2006 F150 XLT (5.4) before I traded it off for the '15 EL. There was around 150-160k miles on it when it moved on the greener pastures, IIRC. I had one problem with it in stock form and it was because when I bought it, the plugs had been changed but not tightened which caused a gas...

    REAL driving today

The only way we can get those mileage #'s in our '15 is to turn off the cruise control. I can then run 75-80 and still get low to mid 19's. Cruise control kills our mileage bringing it down to mid-to-high 17's. We run mid-grade.
