    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

UPDATE: I've only driven her locally as I didn't have confidence in taking her on long drives because she was shutting off randomly. I did notice one dark morning when I went to start her up and she kept shutting off that the fog lights kept on flickering in sequence with a relay clicking. I...

    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

UPDATE: I decided to throw caution to the wind and take her to the car wash because (sitting since June 2022) there was quite the layer of dust. So, she drove fine at residential speeds however, once I got on the freeway and went to accelerate to freeway speeds, she started pinging like a can...

And she's at 250k so the paranoia is real

    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

That's the thing. I've never replaced it because honestly, I'm scared to. I've read many stories about how after transmission maintenance has been neglected, that in many cases, the fresh fluid and it's detergents will make every fault and worn part completely noticeable. So I'm worried about...

    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

Found my battery was bad. Bought a new battery and she started up but wouldn't stay running. Checked and heard the fuel pump functioning as expected. Then ran my fingers along all vacuum lines and found one chewed, possibly by a squirrel. Replaced and and she runs. Took her for a slow local...

I agree, I'll change the fuel filter. I hadn't thought of that.

    Prolonged un-driven Expy concerns!

My 2003 5.4 EB Expedition has sat idle since June of 2022 and I'm wondering... What items should be checked and/or what if any fluids should be changed at this point before I get her back on the road again? She has been garaged so the elements aren't a variable. Thank you in advance for your...

    Another fuse box replacement ....

I don't have the info or pictures right now but I had my fuel pump relay fail AFTER I got off work in downtown Dallas a while back where I didn't want to be after dark and there was no way in hell I was paying for a tow 42 miles away out of pocket. I do InfoTech for a living so I decided to...

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

I tried dude. I really did but after four separate instances of badgering without offering any helpful feedback I bit back. I've been on here for a while, you may have as well but I've never ever been badgered or ridiculed for asking opinions of forum peers. There is/was this one member who...

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

You are a sad little dude huh? Figures..... you're from Washington state. Stick to being on your knees as you're probably proficient at that and have callouses to prove it because you sure don't have any from working on or modding your truck.

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

I've also thought of that possibility as BMW is famous for having a cover wtih a gasket that seals all the plugs/COPs water tight as well as having a seal around each COP using the seal shown in my attachement. I have also thought of this. Tried creating an 'umbrella' of sorts using silicone...

Mmmkay... enough. So much sass from someone with ONE picture in their media file of a bone stock F-150

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

There aren't any tears on that gasket although I thought of that. I could add some soft weatherstripping to the underside of the hood. Cylinders 1, 2, 5, & 6 are the ones that get it the worst.

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

Seriously... I thought this was the whole purpose of a forum? To come forth with a problem and a theoretical solution then ask for opinions. At least that's what it used to be. Heads are machined, ported, polished, modded, and even custom designed for race. So why is it so outlandish to think...

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

The fluid is water being tossed up into the engine bay by the big lugs on mud terrain tires. I don't baby my Expy... She gets dirty, muddy, and water innevitably drains down into the spark plug wells. My question is valid and that would be a mod. Creating drain holes for each of the wells.

Bad design of the spark plug port wells in the head

I'm constantly getting pools of fluid in the spark plug port wells so I started wondering. Is it possible to drill weep holes that will allow any fluid to drain out of the wells? I'm tired of chronically shorting COPs and/or fouled plugs.

She sat since June and finally started her up today. I got code P0315

I also feel slight murmurs of missing upon acceleration from a dead stop, but she runs well enough on the freeway/highway although, she is not as spunky as she can be and has been in the past. I of course researched and found it could be the camshaft position sensor or damaged reluctor ring...

    4" lift

38's! WHOA!!! Are you doing any work to the transmission and swapping out gears? The 35's placed a noticable amount of strain on my 250k mile transmission.

    4" lift

While what scoot0073 is true. Going to max has the opposite effect of ending the upper ball joint life MUCH QUICKER than if you went a little more modest with the lift. To maintain some semblance of dependability, I'd go 2.5/2 inch lift. I have the max lift and just ate my end links and the...

    4" lift

Update: I am going to add Limit Straps to the front. Our trucks don't have bump stops and while catching some air, the end lins blew out and grease was spat everywhere. I feel that limit straps will control that while not allowing the weight of the entire front end just whack everything to full...

Depends on what generation Expy I suppose, or also how much is removed because I don't have any issues.

    4" lift

I primarily went with ProForged components as much as they manufacture for our rigs. Anything HD or Extreme Duty made by a reputable manufacturer. I went further, taking my lowers to my fab guy and having weld on gussets. Edit: Thank you for the compliment.
