Did you delete the rear 2 or all 4? I want to delete my rears for the sound. I was wondering if there's a noticable power/torque increase from deleting the rear ones only. From what I've read there shouldn't be any error codes or drivability issues.- 2004XLT

Rattle noise when starting
It goes away as soon as you let go of the key..I would think starter or flexplate. You can pull the inspection cover off the transmission and look at the flexplate teeth also make sure it's not loose or broken. The shaft on the starter could have worn out bearings.- 2004XLT

It was a guess basically. I unplugged each cop sequentially with the engine running and the #1 seemed to make the least difference. Also it’s closest to the crank sensor so most likely to interfere and in the front of the engine so nearest to weather moisture etc is what I figured- 2004XLT

I'll have to look closer. I noticed that before the new wires the green tach light would always illuminate during a stall and now it does not. Can this code be caused by the camshaft position sensor? I never tested continuity on that circuit I only replaced the sensor.- 2004XLT

I then cut the wires for the crankshaft sensor near the pcm and ran my own wires to the sensor with a new connector to the sensor. Thanks for that. I'm diagnosing a CEL for the crankshaft position sensor, so if you have access to the wiring diagram for it that would be great. I think I have a short somewhere between the sensor and PCM causing an intermittent stall/jerking and occasional shut off in drive and reverse.- 2004XLT
