NEED PERFORMANCE UPGRADE ADVICE

My 03 XLT got a tune up two weeks ago for the first time at 110k. I was a little intimidated by the spark plug issue and had been holding off. New to me 07 Expedition El - crap mpg
My 03 (5.4, 3.37s, 4x4) gets anywhere from 10-12 in town and I fell lucky if it gets 15 on the hwy anymore. It has a Gibson cat-back and a K&N intake set-up. I suspect that the tires I'm running (Wrangler ATs) are the major culprit. It did better on the highway with the original 17-inch Conti's...- rctsombra

MPG tricks that work?
I have an 03 XLT 4x4, 5.4, 3.73s, 90k miles. In order to improve mileage, I ran Royal Purple synthetic, a Gibson cat-back, and a K&N intake kit. Then I replaced the tires with Wrangler AT/S, which likely killed any gains I might have seen. I get around 13-14 on the road and less in town. The...- rctsombra
