    This may not be what you want to hear, but here's what I did with another vehicle (not Ford, but the concepts will be similar): Search for youtube videos that may give you tips on locating / repairing the problem. Search on Amazon / Ebay for a replacement camera that works with the factory...

    Most of the time, Dorman parts do a fine job of fixing the problem. But, I have had a couple of times when the Dorman part looked and fit just like the OEM part - and seemed to work, but didn't solve the problem / clear the code, etc.

    This is a great question. I'm tagging so I can see responses easier. I haven't tried / needed to do anything like you're suggesting on a vehicle newer than ~ 1995, so I don't want to give you an answer that would screw up the factory computer, etc.
