Ball joint replacement parts and ball joint press kit suggestions?

I tried pressing out the lower ball joint and i ended flairing it out. So i ended up with moog lower control arms. For the upper control arms... moog was not on point with a 2003 / 2004. Motorcraft had 2 part numbers. Moog tech support gave me a run around until i pointed out motorcraft...

Coil pack & spark plug suggestions

If i were not to use oem... i would probably try the denso version. They are available on rockauto. I heard standard makes the ford one if that helps. I could be wrong too. I used accel versions but they didnt last as long as oem. As for plugs.. i would use motorcraft but if i didnt...

    Sticky idle

Yep you had the battery disconnect long enough to clear all the learned positions. The quick way is to ground out the positive cable. Glad it is running good again!!

    2004 shakes violently when braking

i had a jeep with a similar issue .... i simply pulled the ABS fuse. Yes the abs light was on and no abs but the brakes worked fine after that. It may be a good test for you. Wont hurt anything for sure. and gotta get your code scanned out.

Upper Control Arm (UCA) upgrade for 2003?

I found moog doesn't have right parts. They don't recognize 2003 / 2004 build years. I used Ford parts website to help me out. Then I ended up with mevotech uca... the higher grade ones. Called moog tech support and he discounted my call... till I started quoted info of Ford parts...

    Oil Consumption

Check pcv.. can cause oil consumption. Blue smoke right at start are the valve seals but sounds like not happening. Also use a good oil filter wix, or Motorcraft. Most important and sounds like you do is keep on eye on level and keep adding. Then you can get fancy maybe pull the fuel pump...

    20 year tune up questions.

Yep been down this road. I like to keep my old expedition running too in top condition. Yes the brakes are lacking. I had napa drilled and slotted rotors years after warping the originals twice within 30k. Skip ahead to 170k... got power stop drilles and slotted rotors and akebono higher...

New engine or new vehicle ?

I agree with the other posts. The rebuilt engines are not perfect out of the crate either. Rust is another huge factor. And what you already replaced and the overall condition of vehicle. The used and new market is ridiculous right now. If you really like the vehicle then go for it... I...

    Ball Joints/Control Arms

I agree on moog... I ended up with mevotech.. the best ones. I tried changing the lower ball joints but that was near impossible and mushroomed them over. With the 2 different metals it didn't end well.

    Monroe vs Bilstein 5100

Monotube is better. Not sure if the bilstein 4600 series is available but that could be an option. However on my gen2 I have the rancho 9000 and can dial in whatever ride you wish. I have them cranked to highest setting but you can soften it up if you want depending on wheel and tires. I am...

    Vacuum hose clean up

Yes I had issues around battery tray with the vac lines. Also the big one going into back of manifold got a hole in it too. This one I just got new rubber hose and put it back together and have a spare piece on board as well. Cheap fix!

Suspension upgrade suggestions - Rancho Quicklift or Bilstein + Spacers?

The Ranchos are fine.. they have a taller spring and I have about 50k on them in a gen 2. Install was not too bad but the lower bolts on gen 2 are very tight. Get your torque specs. I did it without air tools but needed a pipe on the breaker bar for the lower bolt. Also a 2 person job to get...

brake hard line flare nut size and left wheel brake issues.

Last week I replaced the calipers on the truck due to the wheel being really tight. It helped a bit but still not right. When I pump the brakes up and open bleader there is back pressure so I am going to replace the flexible hose. it won't hurt anything.. Its 17 years old! parts Cannon has...

    best replacement caliper -oem

Agree with Moog, was my go to but after my last fitment issue, I started using high grade mevotech. motorcraft is actually trw!! At least they got the fitment of the upper control arms right on my early 04 expedition. It actually uses 03 UCA!! Called Moog tech support and they thought I was...

    best replacement caliper -oem

I agree there really isn't much to a caliper. The square cut seal is the most important part and a clean rust free piston. the centric rebuild parts was almost as much as a rebuilt version. I paid about $30.00 on rockauto for the powder coated version.

    best replacement caliper -oem

After a little research napa buys rebranded cardone calipers. And bought the cardone with powercoat finish just like these with a 10 year warranty.
