The camera is a Rexing V1 I’ve had for a couple of years in one of my other vehicles. It’s an ok camera but I wouldn’t buy another one. I’d rather sped an extra hundred or two and get a solid wireless/Bluetooth type that allows for immediate off site data storage and playback like from your...
I had been experiencing some some issues with grinding on the drivers side wheel in the morning when it’s colder. After some quick research, I realized the 4wd system on my 2003 Expedition is vacuum controlled and mine was malfunctioning.
Essentially I was losing vacuum and the drivers side...
Happy to hear you got it all done without problems. What kind of fuel mileage were you getting before and what has it gone up to now after the change out? How is the power? Improved or same?
You say you replaced the egr feedback sensor, but did you replace it with OEM or just some parts store junk? Was the original sensor bad or was it the hoses that were cracked? We’re talking the same sensor right; the differential pressure sensor with two hoses?
Maybe you either busted an old vacuum line such as the PCV or possibly just left off a hose somewhere? The PCV lines are weak spots especially up near the throttle body.
It turns out that the manifold sits right behind this black wall of plastic that appears to be a sound barrier. So I just grabbed my pocket knife and cut out a section of it and replaced my sensor with a Napa one. No more false overheating and subsequent “limp mode” now.
Trying to replace the cylinder head temp sensor on my 2003 expedition 5.4L but I can’t really get access to the sensor because of this black plastic “wall” thing for lack of a better term. I don’t see it in a video I looked at where they swapped out the CHT sensor.
Is this removable? Or is...
So far – so good, no headaches yet. Will be on a 4-5 hour drive in a few days so we’ll see if the exhaust gets tiresome. I doubt it though for me; I like hearing the engine and the shifts probably in much the same way pilots might appreciate being able to hear their engines while flying ( have...
Just as a follow up, I had the Flowmaster 50 series Delta Flow installed on my 03 EB 5.4L — and I’m very happy with the sound. No performance change, but it definitely sounds good to me. Sounds like a truck should sound; not too loud or obnoxious at all.
Even though Flowmaster doesn’t list...
Interesting. The chart I had looked at showed the 50 Delta flow to be a little more aggressive than the Super 50.
Oh well, I already ordered the Delta Flow which was about $40 cheaper too. Hopefully there won’t be any issues with it.
I may take before and after video to compare sound levels.
I’m thinking of installing a FLowmaster 50 series Delta Flow muffler on my 03 EB 5.4L. I noticed that FM doesn’t list a 50 series Delta Flow for my year – but they do list the Super 50.
Anyone know if there would be an actual issue if I ran the Delta Flow 50 instead of the Super 50? Same...
My thoughts are the cat too. Had a Mazda Tribute lose power and acceleration. Had to trailer it home. I unbolted the cat and it ran like a champ.
I'm not a mechanic though so I probably shouldn't be trusted for advice.
Thanks for the TSB & part link!
The way it looks in my pics is just the way I found it. I didn't know there is supposed to be plastic cover. Would that be like a hinged cover or something (like a doggy door)? I'm just trying to envision what cover could have been there.
Interesting that there is a fix for this with the elbow! My carpet definitely was wet down by the passenger sill plate. I made sure not to use the HVAC with the AC or defroster going for a few day while it dried out, then I ran it through the wash and also let it get rained on for a couple days...
I have a clogged AC condensate drain and decided to try and snake it today.
Due to the angle of the drain and the proximity to all sorts of stuff near it, getting a coat hanger up there and being able get it to bend into the drain without binding up is a real MF'er. Was only able to slide about...
I wasn't sure what specific angles you wanted to see or what specifically you wanted measurements of – so I took these with a tape measure in some of them for scale.
Let me know if you need different views or specific measurements.
If no one else gets you the pics/info you need tonight, I'll take better pics and get measurements for you tomorrow.
For now though, I already had these pics from a couple of weeks ago; perhaps they will help.
I finally had a chance to investigate some of my issues further.
For the door ajar message and the sticking pin switch in the passenger door, I first hit it with a few good shots of MAF cleaner then hit it with a bit of Liquid Wrench. All is working as it should again. Thanks guys for the tips...
Thanks for the link. I may resort to that if I can't figure this out first. Right now I'm leaning towards a reception issue of some sort. Both my fobs suddenly stop working unless you are literally in the truck – and then only barely. I followed the link for the shop manual from another member...
Good too know about the Wildpeaks on the Expedition as I've been planning to replace the 265/75/16 Cooper ATPs on my 4Runner with Wildpeaks and will probably do the same for my Expedition as well when the current tires are worn.
Interesting info about the lift reasons. I think if I do wind up...
How interesting that it was the passenger front for you too. Yesterday I had a few moments to investigate which switch is having issues and I found it to be the front passenger side as well. I was surprised it wasn't the drivers door! I shouldn't have been though since the front passenger door...
Looks good!
Two questions, how are you liking those Wildpeaks and why does everyone want their trucks level?
I'm just curious as to all the leveling kits I see being installed for the Expeditions. My experience with my 4wd Toyota and other Toyota guys is that we all prefer a little bit of...
