I replaced the rear only with the Helwig unit on my 2017 EL. It made a night and day difference. The front would also probably improve the handling but I detected that the rear by far needed the most help.
I'm using an SCT tuner on my 2017. It's set for 91 octane and has worked great. A lot more power, no codes, no problems. Gas mileage could be better, however since it feels so good all the time my foot is in heavy way too much.
Our 2017 which was an Aug 2016 build and had been setting for a year had the very same issue. Finally got the dealer to replace the rears under warranty. Fixed the problem very nicely. Before it was fixed it was dangerous to drive as there was little to no rear control.
A few things you might check and try. 1st lower your temp setting. Remember these auto temp settings blend warm air with cool air until the lowest setting is selected. 2nd make sure you have it set to the recirculate position not the outside air position. It's much harder to cool incoming...
I bought the SCT X4 for my 2017 EL. Set it for 91 octane and it works great. Definitely more power and MPG has remained good as well. Would have set for 93 octane but it's just not readily available in our area.
Too bad the Ford Excursion was left off the list. I had an 02 model with 7.3 diesel that had 315k on it when I traded it in for my 17 Expy. A mechanic at the dealership bought my trade in and said you can't wear them out. I like my Expy but the Excursion felt tougher and was definitely roomier.
I have a 2017 Limited 4x2 and it also has 3.31 gears. Performs great !! However I would not have been disappointed if it come equipped with 3.73 gears.
I have a 2017 EL Limited with 20" tires. Off the lot new it had to much bounce in the rear (lack of shock control). If you hit a big bump in the road it would bounce enough to pull the rear tires off the pavement at highway speeds. If you were in a curve when this happened it was difficult to...
I have a 2017 EL with 20" tires and wheels, it's very smooth and rides great. The problem it does have is the rear shock control is horrible. Hit a slight dip in the road and the rear rebounds so bad it pulls the rear tires of the pavement. Definitely needs better rear shock control.
