Driver's power door lock intermittent problem

My signal mirror on the driver's side stopped working inexplicably, I wonder if this has something to do with it. I'll check.

How strong is the load deck when all seats are folded down?

Also fun fact: 4'x8' sheets of plywood/drywall fit perfectly with all the seats down in the back of my '12 MAX. Hope they didn't change this in the 4th-gen.

    ForScan Tweaks - 2015+

I can make graphs and monitor anything and everything in real time with FORScan, it's great. Here's some data of my engine while I was troubleshooting some VCT issues.

    TPMS Reset

I would wager they aren't. If you don't rotate them at the dealer, they probably don't re-learn the sensors to their new positions.

    Rear Windshield Fluid Not Dispensing

I have had couplers on the hoses to the rear nozzle pop off and leak out everywhere under the hood. Easy fix… I usually add a zip tie to keep it on there. Still, I'd just go to the dealer to have them do it.

I changed mine right around then. They were due. Electrodes were real short.

My 2010 sounds like an actual diesel at idle

I wouldn’t do a phaser lockout if you paid me. The TSB from Ford on 2008 or 2009 and later says to replace the solenoids. They seem to think the updated phasers don’t have a problem usually, just the solenoids. Also, if you have a scanner than can see it, graph the VCTADVERR PIDs (1 and 2 I...

Poof like her intake manifold gasket, probably.

2017 doesn't downshift quickly enough, "lugs" when going up a hill

That's what I do. I don't even have SelectShift on my 2012. I just tap it to the floor briefly and back off it quickly so I don't make my passengers uncomfortable, and save some gas. ;)

Connected ‘18 Navigator for the first time and found DTC’s

Yep, normal. If communication fails even once (say you clicked the ignition on and off real quick before all the modules could power up) then it will set the DTC for a long time. If you don't see any of those failures (all your lighting still works) you can safely clear them.

Headed into the Dealer for Work

A grinding/ratcheting sound wouldn't really come from the transmission if the vehicle still moves. All gears are fully meshed 100% of the time in an automatic. You can get a ratcheting sound if you drop it in Park while the drivetrain is still moving, the Park pawl can ratchet a few times if the...

    Disabling auto start/stop

My 2012 does that when I change something before I cycle the key. It's normal.

    4WD Change for 2017?

The only vehicles that had ControlTrac II were Explorer and Escape. It's been replaced with Intelligent 4WD. It used a viscous coupling and wasn't nearly as great as plain ol' ControlTrac, which is still used on the 2018 Expedition (albeit updated a bit.)

    Ford + Alexa

I have seen numerous people have similar issues with Hey Siri, OK Google, and the like. The issue is that the voice processor that handles these requests is always listening, and processing the last second or two of audio it heard. It will capture everything you say after the trigger phrase...

2017 doesn't downshift quickly enough, "lugs" when going up a hill

Honestly I use the kick-down feature in my 2012 like you're describing using the paddle shifters all the time. If I know I'm gonna need it to be in a lower gear I just floor it briefly and it does exactly what I want it to. It's taken a little practice for me to get used to it (and probably a...

Oil in the coolant, and coolant in the oil

Oil in your coolant is not at all normal and you definitely have a problem, probably the head gasket like the others have said. HOWEVER, some buttery residue under the oil fill cap is totally normal for these engines, especially if you only run it for short trips. I've found a LOT before (like a...

Push Bar - Is this too much?

They are generally filled with water (and some kind of antifreeze) or sand. True, water doesn't compress, but it can (and does) move out of the way, absorbing some energy along the way. Concrete doesn't compress OR move out of the way.

    Will I be dissapointed?

Yep, the manual even says you can use it with a WDH and it works very well, it just takes a little more time to set up. They never act like one is a replacement for the other, because it’s not.

    Will I be dissapointed?

!!! That’d be a dealbreaker for me. I didn’t think I’d love them as much as I do.

    2014 EL Scheduled Maintenance

That’s never been absolutely true. What happens is your transmission wears and the friction material from that has worn off the clutches is suspended in the fluid. The clutches become so worn that they don’t quite lock anymore, but since there’s so much friction material in the fluid, they still...
