The end of the story:
It jumped the track again, in exactly the same way, about 10 days ago now. I finally broke down and ordered a replacement from eBay. I'd seen a video suggesting that extra drag in the front track from too much dirt or a lack of lubrication could cause this problem, so...
Not sure how it's germane, but she was moving back home after splitting up with her boyfriend. The window was down the whole time, and she was unloading her stuff from the back of the truck.
A couple of weeks ago I left my driver's door window down, while my daughter unloaded some stuff from the truck. The next day I noticed the window was still open, and went to close it. It refused to go more than 1/4 of the way up, and there were crackling noises when it stopped.
Long story...
Can you take a moment and describe in more detail how you did these parts? I started with the trim under the driver's window and stopped when I wasn't getting really great results around the mirror.
I took a look on Amazon, and it seems that in 2009 Ford changed to steel on the F-150. From 2009 up it looks like the same part for both F-150 and Expedition. For 2008 the parts differ.
I use this one. Cut off the corner of the flat plastic mounting plate to match the curve of the air vent, and epoxy it to the dash, just to the left of the radio/hvac panel.
Dragging front brakes caused my mileage to drop from 16.5 to 12.5 in the rural/small town driving that I routinely do. I tried servicing the calipers without doing a full rebuild and that improved them, but in the end I simply replaced them.
I will second the brake flex hose comments. Replaced my calipers, but still had dragging brakes. Replaced the hoses and it's like new now.

LOL ... Last August I bought a 2010 Expedition EL 4x4 with 172K on it, from a dealer up in northern New Jersey. It ran terribly when I went to test drive it, but the price was right $5,775, so I took it anyway. I limped home for 180 miles, barely able to maintain 65mph.
In the end, it had...
Thanks for the reply. I didn't see it earlier (need to check my setting here). I replaced the front hoses on last week, and it totally fixed the problem :)
I was already pretty sure that the hoses were the cause, rather than the master cylinder, because the dragging was unequal between the...
Arni,
Can you elaborate on the brake hose problem please? Where was this clamp that was causing the problem?
I just might have a similar issue. I replaced the front calipers, and although things have improved, I do think I'm still having some drag.
Thanks,
Paul
