Thanks guys. Today is my only day off so i better get crackin on this. Im going to try and have it done asap, so i dont have to keep driving my diesel. Id love to pull the trans and run the engine to make sure it was ok, but i dont know if its possible. Id have to jump out the neutral safety...
Any recommendations on a converter yall have used? The only converters i have bought have been fully built ones for ford diesels and my silverado back in the day. I dont need a fully built one, just one a bit better then stock, possibly furnace brazed.
Lol i know. I was happy with the fact that i had gotten everything fixed except the seat heaters/coolers. That was my last remaining issue. I even rewarded the truck with a full sound system. Im just hoping its the flexplate, but i am probably going to buy a new converter also. I dunno lol.
Hey guys,
You.might recall a few months ago i did a complete tear.down and rebuild on my 03 navigator 5.4 32v.
It had been running great until last night. I was on my way home from work and i stopped at a light and noticed a loud knocking coming from under the truck. I finished my drive home...
Hey guys,
I bought a new kenwood double din head unit for my 03 navigator because i need to have the hands free function, and i figured why not upgrade while im at it. I used crutchfield and they sent me the head unit, wiring harness, dash kit and a few other adapters. Heres the problem. They...
Thats a sweet setup. Ill definitely consider them if im in the motor again. What id really.like to do it get a hold of one of the old school kenne bell supercharger kits they made for these. Id love to have one of those under the hood.
I was previously a ford heavy line mechanic, but this is my firsr 32v modular build. I was kinda of out of my confort zone at first with the quad cam setup, but once those are out of the way its just like one of the 16v's ive done before. Thanks for all the comments and encouragement guys. Youll...
Well...i made major headway. I loosely bolted the egr tube onto the manifold. I left it loose so that i could line it up with its port on the bottom of the upper manifold. I put 2 small dabs of gray rtv onto the gasket to help hold it in place. I loosely installed the 2 bolts that hold the egr...
Got started this morning. I got the wiring harness stretched out and nested where it needed to go. I had to do a wiring repair on the knock sensor as it looked like it either cracked from heat or some creature chewed it. Anyway, i got it fixed. I installed the spark plugs, and ignition coils...
Hey guys,
i am just finishing a complete tear down and rebuild on my 03 navigator. I have the torque specs and sequence for everything except for the upper and lower intake manifold. I have looked everywhere and have not been able to find them. I would use the specs from the 4.6 na cobra, but i...
Made some more progress today. I got the timing cover the rest of the way prepped and ready to install. I replaced the front main seal. I used the felpro timing cover gaskets that came in the head set. I followed the pattern of which bolts go into what holes for the timing cover because some of...
Today i made quite a bit of headway lol no pun intended. I started off with hanging the head gaskets from a piece of copper wire and spraying them with the permatex copper gasket spray. I love this stuff, it works great and helps to seal it even better. I do both sides and let them set for about...
Hey guys im back,
The wife and i welcomed our first baby into the world last week so needless to say, its been super hectic.
On thursday i got my heads back from the machine shop. He resurfaced them, cleaned em, pressure tested them, as well as grinding all the valves. He had to replace 3 of...
Ive seen those before and they are really nice but im going to stick with the iron ones i have. Believe it or not, the new timing kit i bought came with new iron primary and secondary tensioners. I was really suprised because the kits usually come with the crappy plastic ones. Heck even the...
Also, since i pulled the radiator, fan, and shrouds, i use a step stool and literally climb into the engine compartment and stand on the cross member to work on the top of the motor. Its actually quite comfortable. I also got more headroom by disconnecting the hood support shocks, opening the...
In the mustangs i would build a complete long block on the stand and install it. On this suv and the f150s i have done, its much easier to install the block itself then install the heads because the cowl overhangs the engine compartment quite a bit making dropping it straight in dang near...
Anytime im pulling heads or an engine, i will cover the ends of the fuel lines, heater core hoses, or any other disconnected line with either a rubber glove finger or blue painters tape to protect them from debris. The painters tape is nice because it sticks to itself very well, and if it gets...
