I have a 2003 Expedition. Same thing happened, numerous times. After numerous attempted fixes I found out that the coil over plugs were bad. I figured 1 or 2 were bad but didn’t want to fix those only to have others go bad. I replaced them all. No more problems. Coils are about $70 each.
I feel you pain. I think the Ford Engineers don't think about maintenance until after the design. I did my first 2 oil changes by only taking of the metal skid plate and the fabric plate next to it. The front rubber piece I left in place and only opened up the side to get me hand in and remove...
I had the same symptoms at 71k. Shuddering while at low speeds turning both left and right. I went ahead and changed out the oil on the rear axle and used full synthetic and added a Ford XL-3 friction enhancer and after 100 miles the shuddering went away. Saved a trip to the dealer and a $190...
