    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

So, the dealer that did the original repair is almost 150 miles away, but they told me to just take it to my local dealer and give them the service manager's contact information. They got it in earlier this week, and the tech found that the VDOP seals were missing...so they installed new seals...

    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

And when I had thought/hoped the story was over...I went out yesterday to take my son to the dr, and found a huge lake of oil all over my garage floor. Confirmed with the dipstick that nearly all of the oil has leaked out somewhere...looking underneath, there is oil dripping from a number of...

    Powertrain Fault

Might depend on the exact details, but I've read about a number of different "fixes" because there aren't usually any DTCs stored for those. The "quick" fix is to pull over, turn off the car, open the driver's side door, close the door, restart the car, and that magically clears it up. Until...

    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

And just to (hopefully) wrap up this story, service manager emailed me to let me know that the repairs are done and went as expected, and they did a 30+ mile test drive just to make sure everything was good. The repair is covered for 2 years / unlimited miles at any Ford dealer, so I'm...

    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

While I'm still waiting on an update from the dealer, the Ford app showed me that the truck has racked up about 50 miles this morning, and gone through almost a quarter of a tank of gas. I'm not sure what they do as part of normal diagnostics or testing after the VCT replacements, or if they're...

Joining the Cam Phaser Club! YAY! (ugh)

I just dropped mine off at the dealer last night to have all 4 VCUs replaced. 2019 Limited with 66k miles...we bought it about 4 months ago with 63k miles on it. Fortunately, the dealer offers a 100k powertrain warranty, and they're covering the repair under their own warranty. We've got our...

    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

It's always "fun" when your phone lights up with notifications about your vehicle when it's not in your possession...just got a "Powertrain malfunction/reduced power" warning on the phone app. We've seen a couple of those since we got the truck earlier this year, but there were never any DTCs...

    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

Dropped the truck off last night, after talking to the service manager on Friday and confirming that they'd already ordered and received all of the parts needed. So hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow, the truck should be all fixed up with new all new VCTs. Fingers crossed it all goes...

2018 Expo Cam Phaser Ford Extended Warranty Coverage

We're having ours done under the dealer's own powertrain warranty, so the phasers would be covered even under the minimal powertrain warranty from Ford. As a heads up with any of the extended warranties from Ford, since you're out of warranty, they're all going to require a full inspection...

    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

We're at 66k miles. I just got confirmation from the service manager that it would be covered under the dealer's powertrain warranty, and just needs signoff from the general manager to approve the coverage. <whew>

    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

I think so, too, along with the dealer. When I told my salesman about it, his response was that we should have listened to him when he said to get the extended warranty.

    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

Had the local dealer take a look, and they said all 4 vct units need replacement, and quoted $2800 plus tax, but parts are all backordered. I'm going to send the estimate over to the dealer we bought it from to confirm they'd cover it under their power train warranty.

    Camshaft issues - P0022 and P052D

Took our new (to us) 2019 Expedition (66k miles) on a bit of a road trip last weekend...first longer trip since we got it, about 350 miles each way. The drive down was mainly uneventful, but once I got into town, I noticed that the engine cam noise was much louder and prevalent than usual. On...

2019 Expedition Limited - Auto start/stop not working

Ok, the saga continues. I went back through everything again last night with Forscan, and enabled just about every monitor around the ASS I could find to see what may be inhibiting it. Interestingly, there were two... "Scheduler system of start-stop feature disabled due to vehicle...

Wrench Icon; power train malfunction/reduced power, and forward collision warning alerts in message center

We just picked up a 2019 Expedition Limited about 3 weeks ago, and on our first time up on the highway with it after bringing it home, we had the exact same thing happen. It was a bit snowy out, and we were doing 65mph-ish on the highway when suddenly we got the notice about the collision...

2019 Expedition Limited - Auto start/stop not working

Did the battery monitor reset, and still no auto start/stop :(. I even made sure to turn off the HVAC, engine was fully warmed up, and it was in the mid 40s outside. Nothing on the screen, either.

I'll give this a try after my wife gets home tonight. Thanks!

2019 Expedition Limited - Auto start/stop not working

Put in a new battery last night. Seems like almost all of the memories were kept, other than the power running boards switching to "off" (which someone else mentioned happened to them). Took a 10+ minute drive, and still nothing for the auto start/stop. No messages appearing on the screen, no...

2019 Expedition Limited - Auto start/stop not working

I'm pretty sure the auto-unlock is working fine, as no one seems to have an issue exiting the vehicle ;) New battery came today...once my wife gets home this afternoon, I'll see if I can swap it out. Fingers crossed :D

2019 Expedition Limited - Auto start/stop not working

We just ordered a new battery, which will be here later this week. Even on the charger, it wasn't resolving the issue. And my even after a weekend of longer (1.5 hour) trips, the battery was still showing 40% charged when I got home and hooked it up to the charger. So we'll see if that helps...

I've charged mine overnight a couple of times, and the Auto StartStop screen remains completely blank :( We're working through a few other things, so we'll see

Leaving running boards deployed - pros and cons

One of the complaints my teenager has is the delay in them deploying...he's still trying to get used to having to wait for them to deploy before jumping out, as the first or second time I dropped him off at school the running board was still moving as he got out and it tripped him up :( Any...

Leaving running boards deployed - pros and cons

Hi, everyone... We're about two weeks into Expedition ownership, and one of the concerns we have is just the constant in and out of the running boards. I have little ones, so leaving them "in" isn't a great option, and I wanted to see if there are any concerns or issues with leaving them...

2019 Expedition Limited - Auto start/stop not working

I went through all of the modules with Forscan last night, and confirmed that it's not disabled in any of the programming. I guess my next step would be to take a drive with Forscan running and a dashboard configured with all of the inhibit indicators loaded up, so I can see what is preventing...

2019 Expedition Limited - Dreaded wrench light

Battery appears to be original, is a FoMoCo labelled battery. And it's spent it's life in the Pittsburgh area, so I don't think it's a flood damaged vehicle. The Carfax showed a single owner who had the car serviced almost religiously, which is one of the reasons we bought it. The terminals...
