    Getting a yummy, not good though, fuel smell when I start the 2012 5.4l Triton up. Going to replace spark plugs as a precaution and hope that does it.     It’s the battery. Checked this morning and it’s at 12.1 volts. Hooked jump box back up and it purred for 30 seconds and I shut it off. Who would have thought. Lol

    Update, kept seeing that a bad battery could possssssibly be a little bit possibly causing the problem. So I hooked it up to a jump pack and the CEL was gone and it sounded great. Maybe I’ll try again in the morning. Hopefully it is just the battery.

    Another happy return home. 5.4l Triton with 197,000 miles has P0365 and P0369. Rough idle, wants to die. Sounds fine and has plenty of power when driving just sounds like cam phasers and death at idle until it actually dies. I’m going to scour the internet but figured I’d ask in case anyone...

    Anyone have any experience on procharging their Expy? I see a couple kits that are pretty pricey but I mean it would be a looooootttttt of fun. I am thinking new cams and the pro charger with a tuner should all be good? Having a hard time finding anything on Expeditions.

    I think your biggest worry is going to be if you are lifted at all or not. I have the premium wheels (I think they are 20s) and was thinking about putting the 35s on from my F150 but they are wayyyyyy too big. Also think about tire wall height when at full crank.     Recently did a trip from El Paso Texas to Alamogordo NM and got 21 both directions. Bone stock 2012 King Ranch 5.4l triton. Maybe it's the E88 eco Maverick gas? City is dropping pretty far but sitting at 17.3 for the last week or so.

    I've been watching via obd2. Looks all the same until yesterday, of course when it was not on obd2, and was wanting to die somewhere around 300rpm in gear at a light. Still no codes. Maybe it's one of those cars that like to give heart attacks lol

    Alarming issues

    I found out the hard way last night that opening the hood from the half latched position with the vehicle alarm on that it will set it off. Maybe check there, total shot in the dark though

    They wanted to make an appointment. It had a pending code for crankshaft position with camshaft B but it never came as a stored code. Still idling between 470 and 520 when in gear at a light and like 640 in park.

    No codes yet. Recently had entire passenger side head rebuilt and new VCT solenoid on passenger side replaced. 520-530rpm in gear. 570-620rpm in park and pretty rough.

    Put a new VCT in last night. Fixed the rough idle while in gear. Gotta make a new thread post for super low idle now though lol. Sitting somewhere around 470-500 while in gear and 520ish while in park. Just keeps on going lol

    Real world MPG results

    Stock 2012 King Ranch Expedition 5.4 from El Paso Texas to Las Vegas Nevada got 18.8 for the whole trip of about 715 miles. Had all of our luggage in the back with the 60 part of the seat folded. Highest it got was 20.1 on flat areas, 17.8 on the hills. Mostly around 77-85mph

    They ended up fixing it all on their dime since it was pre-existing and didn't disclose it when I asked if there was any reason why it was in reconditioning for so long. Wife was mad we're keeping it but it is in great shape besides that issue. I'll attach RO to show all they did on their own dime.
