Please see my updates to post 108.

Post 106 you mention mfs - what is this?

If MFS is multi-function switch it was replaced in Jan/Feb 2017 timeframe with Ford part.
I replaced headlight lens unit about 3 weeks ago. - This might point to current issue of dash lights and not cranking.
Replaced back/forward motor driver's seat June 2017.

The original not turning off was Oct 2016. If any of this helps

Another update -
Pulled and disconnected multifunction switch
Key out -
F1.18 - in - dash lights on
F1.21 - out - dash lights off
Started car, all gauages dead since F21 powers instrument cluster.
F1.21 - in - all gauges working - ABS light on
Turned off, key out - engine still running
Pulled F1.21 - engine shutoff - dash lights back on

Don't worry about other issues right now. We need to determine what is back feeding F1. 18 first. Once that is determined repair it then move on to other issues.

Mfs is multi function switch

Don't worry about dash lights right now

What condition are the grounds in by the cjb? Any rust present where they bolt to the metal?

Still need to monitor voltage on pin 2 while pulling each fuse.

About half way, had to take a break. That hanging upside down in that hole is rough on an old-man's back.

Do I pull the relays also?
What about breaker 401?

Key out - kills power to C270J pin 2.
F1.F21(instrument cluster, S238)

F1.F24 (battery saver relay)
I'll report back when i finish.

Yes on pulling cb and relays.

Think that is bad, try wiggling up under the dash on an old Bluebird school bus. Almost got stuck one time.

I've updated your previous reply with the components on each fuse. Easier to follow when we refer back to it . Please add any additional information to that reply.

No others changed.

I decided to re pull F1.F12-F21 just to have a complete test.
When I pulled F18 the dash lights went out, but the voltage reading was actually 1 volt more than all the others. When i put it back in, the voltage dropped by 1 volt.

At this point, I don't know if I tested the voltage way back when i first pulled F18 or just noticed the dash lights go out.

Sorry if that has confused the issue, back then i was still struggling with the pins and readings and everything else.

Oh, ground at the CJB is pristine.

I was reading about the Battery Saver Relay on a thread by Bed

------------------------------------------------------------------
Fuse/Relay
Location
Fuse Amp
Rating
Passenger Compartment Fuse

Panel Description
R301 Trailer tow back-up lamp relay Trailer tow 7–wire connector (back-up lamps)

R302 Speed control relay Speed control servo

R303 Fuel pump relay Fuel pump shut-off switch, PCM (fuel pump monitor), Fuel pump

R304 Battery saver relay Roof rail lamps, Vanity mirror lamps, Map/Dome lamp, Glove box lamp, Cargo area lamp, Outside

mirror puddle lamps, Instrument cluster (interior lamps)

R305 Horn relay Dual note horn
------------------------------------------------------------

My outside mirror puddle lamps quit working a year or so. I also see Bed mention the instrument cluster as well. Just mentioning in case another clue.

The instrument panel provides a timed ground to the battery saver relay and "opens" when the time is up. The doors must be closed for the next test.

Keycout
First test all fuses in. Second test F1.18 out
C270j pin 15, Lt green/orange wire

Monitor the voltage here for 10-15 minutes with the doors closed. We are looking to see if the relay is shutting off or the wire stays powered on after the time is up.
