Welcome to the forum. Turn your bulb around they are polarity sensitive.

Where'd you get the LEDs? Are they generic or made specifically for the Expedition? Thinking of doing an interior LED conversion in mine.

thanks Andy, but I am aware of the polarity of the bulbs. I am leaning towards it being an issue with the contacts on the assemply

Hayes, I got the LED set from Ebay, let me know if you need the info. The company I deal with is super professional.

Did the incandescent bulb work? Or is this something that occurred after the switch?

    Andy,

yes, the incandescent bulbs worked before the change
the LED bulb works in the other locations, so I know it's not the bulb.
    I also tested the wires/connectors
the issue began after the switch.
all other lights work, For this reason I am guessing it's the assembly and the contacts.

thanks for continuing to walk me through

Pull the whole housing out of the headliner and check the wires on the back side to make sure the plug is still connected. In addition use a volt meter to check the voltage at the connections in the socket and on the back side.

You should have a constant 12V source when the key is ON as well as a switched 12V source, such as when a door is opened or key switched to OFF. And a ground.

Swapping the known-working 2nd row drivers side with the now-dead 2nd row passenger side will tell you if the trouble is inside the assembly or not. Proceed from there.
