Although it is likely to be covered elsewhere, it might be good to post here the possibility of a defective alternator causing running problems or cel codes. If a diode is bad it results in some AC voltage getting through instead of nice clean DC. Computers don't like AC, it messes with their mind and besides that numerous sensors send the computer a square wave signal that is enough like AC to confuse things when the alternator puts out something that is seen as "data". So if you start getting codes for a part that is good or your transmission goes crazy consider the possibility that the alternator is really the culprit.
