I'm guessing a stealership is the only option to replace one of these? The rear passenger door taint working....even after a can of WD:mad: Don't see anything on Ebay. Has anyone ever changed one? It's an '03 XLT FourX4.

These instructions are from the service manual. Follow them at your own risk. I am not responsible if you break anything.

    With that said:

For the door ajar switch in the rear door, follow these instructions:

    1. Remove the door latch. (see below)

    2. Remove the door ajar switch.
-Release the door lock actuator locking tab.
    -Remove the door lock actuator.
-Release the locking tab and remove the door ajar switch.

    3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are the instructions on removing the rear door latch.

NOTE: The rear door window glass must be completely raised.

    1. Remove rear door trim panel.

    2. Position the watershield aside.

    3. Remove the childproof door lock cover.

    4. Disconnect the exterior door handle actuating rod.
    -Open the clip.

    5. Remove the bolts and position the rear door latch aside.
    -Discard the bolts.

    6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    7. Release the interior door cable and remove the rear door latch.
    -Position the cable cover aside.
-Release the conduit and the interior door cable.

    8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    -Transfer parts as necessary.
-If necessary, use multi-purpose grease to lubricate the latch.

Thanks, I'll go look for that then. I had it apart but didn't want to go much further right now...had a BBQ/partay to go to:) It didn't seem to want to come loose from the handle and the lock rod....I will tackle it early one morning.

Liftgate? Liftgate doesn't have a child lock ;) The manual you buy will be the same as mine, and that is what it says :)

rear door? hatchback? the one that lifts toward the sky? not sure what you mean by childlock or what those have to do with my problem but yes, it doesn't have one. the two rear doors do tho. the rear passenger side is the one acting up. lights don't come on when the door is opened. the sensor be jacked up me thinks:D I'll need a manual for other projects anyway.

Liftgate/hatch/door that open to the sky is the same thing.

The instructions above are the rear passenger door. My liftgate comment stems from step 3 of the second set of instructions. It says to remove the child lock cover. The liftgate doesn't have a child lock, where as the rear passenger door (2nd row door) does. It was my way of saying that the instructions are correct for the rear passenger door that you requested... ;)

In the manual, it will refer to the liftgate as the "liftgate" and the 2nd row doors as the "rear doors".

Gotcha. Well, thanks for your time and the help:cool:

Now, the the dash light isn't on but opening the door doesn't activate any lights. Any thoughts on that?
