Fuel Filter (2 port or 3 port?)

Looking at doing some maintenance this saturday and shopping online.

I see two different motorcraft fuel filters to choose from. One has two ports and one has three

FG-1036 has three ports
FG-986B has two ports

without crawling under my car in the rain, anyone have a quick answer?

Its a 2006 XLT 4wd.

My 2nd gen 2003 uses the 3 port FG-1036 filter

Look under the Expy and see what you have ? But if the production date is after 7/06 you would use the 3 port 1036 filter. Prior to that it is just the 986 style.
