I noticed yesterday that the gauge lights come on after an extended delay when the headlight switch is in Auto mode. The headlights themselves work fine and come on automatically, just the gauge lights take a long time to come on. If I move the switch to manually turn on the headlights the gauge lights come on immediately. Is there a relay that might be going bad? Thanks, Dan this is a 2001 EB 4x4 5.4ltr if that helps.

Are you certain that the headlight come on immediately when you are in auto mode and the instrument cluster takes some extra time

This is what the manual says about the AUTOLAMP MODULE
Monitors ambient light to
control autolamp relays. As
light level decreases, sensor
resistance increases to preset
amount energizing relays,
turning on headlamps,
exterior lamps and instrument
illumination lamps.

According to the wiring diagram both the headlights and instrument cluster get power at the same time when in the auto mode
