High idle

2000 expedition , has very high idle during cold start ups. What could be wrong?

Your info is very vague to give any help. what are the ambient temps, IAT temps, coolant temps and engine RPMs? 5.4 or 4.6?

Define "very high idle". 1,500, 2,500, 4,000rpm?
On cold start ups a higher idle is normal. But that is typically around 1,500rpm's for a minute or two. Then it will drop to the normal 800ish range.

Are you getting any check engine lights?

Any error codes? It could be due to a stuck up intake valve.
