how far does is the sunroof supposed to slide open?

My sunroof has been like this since I owned my expedition. The sunroof shade slides further back than the sunroof will open. Is this normal or is my sunroof out of adjustment? This is a 2008 limited EL 2wd

Push the open again and it will open more. There's two stages of " open "

IIRC, on my 2016 F150 with the pano roof, there was a large increase in buffeting with the roof fully open.

As stated, the sun roof opens in 2 stages, the first level is as in your picture, but if you push the open button a second time, it will retract even further. You only push the close button once to fully close the sun roof regardless of what position it is in.
