Admittedly the last 'new' vehicle I bought was in 2013 (not a Ford). It and all my previous vehicles(no Fords) had gas caps. A surprise to me was that my 2017 Expedition Limited does not have a gas cap; it just has a 'seal' on the 'door' to the gas? I guess this is something Ford has done for several years? New/Surprise to me.
Anyway.....has anyone done the 'Locking Fuel Filler Plug'? What are your experiences with using one? Any negatives? positives?
or should one just not bother???????
I bought a new 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4 with the cap less fuel filller neck. I bought the locking gas cap plug from Ford and use it. I keep the keys (it came with two) on the push button start fobs. I have never had a problem with the cap or keys. I had a third key made at a local hardware store and keep it in the glovebox as backup. The plug is inexpensive and is mostly plastic, other than the key cylinder.
I live in a nice area but like the idea of a locking gas cap, especially when I travel, to prevent gas theft and as a backup to prevent fuel spillage in an accident.
