I went up to the mountains to do some shooting.

While it wasn't really much of a trail, except for this part, I noticed that it felt very soft. The suspension was cycling like crazy. I never bottomed out or scraped on anything. I'm thinking that these Rancho RS5000 shocks might be too soft for offroad.

Fun day though. The shooting was great and the mountain driving was excellent. And the weather for the beginning of November couldn't have been better.

Been following your thread on fixes/mods to your Expo. Was it difficult to change the transmission fluid? How did you drain the torque converter?

I can only speak for the 4r100 that is on my 2000, but it was pretty easy to change the transmission fluid. Drain the fluid from the pan. Remove all the bolts that hold the pan (to change filter), remove pan, change filter, reinstall pan (new gasket? Possibly).

To drain the torque converter, there is a rubber plug on the bell housing facing the ground. Remove the plug. Inside that hole is another drain plug. Remove it to drain the torque converter. Simple.

I posted this in the opening post:
The left rear tire was at 20 psi. I inflated it to 34. I guess I'll see if it leaks.

Well after a year and a half of topping off the tire every week or 2 I finally took it in. Turns out there was a nail in it. Discount patched and plugged it for free.

Have a 2001 w/ description almost identical. On one of my boots the piece that gets fastened broke and plug shot out. Very loud banging noise. Trying to replace but plug wont screw in! ??????

If your plug shot out then it probably stripped the threads in the head. You'll need a helicoil to fix it. It's a fairly common problem actually.

Same thing happened to me. Took it to the mechanic and they helicoiled it. That was 4 years and probably 25,000 miles ago.
