Tom - how are you getting readings on trans? Any one here used a tuner (or similar) to pull more accurate readings?

Replaced my driver window motor today. It’s been flaky for a month or 2. It won't work for a day or 2 then it will work for 3 weeks straight. I ordered a new one and finally got around to swapping it out today. And it stopped working again today too- so that helped motivate me.

The old motor had a little bit of play in the shaft. The new one doesn’t. Ever since I got the truck, the “one touch down” was more like 2 touches. Now it seems to be a 1 touch down like it should.

Wait a minute. What ever happened with the no blower motor issue after changing flashers?

You left us hanging, so it was the rheostat? So the no power issue turned out to be a bad resistor? Those usually work but you lose 1 or 2 speeds. Glad that got taken care of!

I've been having a slight issue with my HVAC that I started a different thread for:
http://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/blower-not-working-at-all.35556/

I determined that I wasn't getting good power to the Fan Control Module. The fan still worked with power straight from the battery. Something happened between the fuses/relays and the Fan Control Module.

I decided to bypass the module. To do that, I got a rheostat capable of handling 40 amps. I wired everything up quick just to make sure it worked (the display is % total power):

Space in the 1st gen Expedition is frustratingly limited. I decided to mount the dial in the center console and I found a spot underneath to mount the control module:

The supplied wires from the control box to the dial were way too short, so I lengthened them and added connectors so I can remove it:

I mounted the dial off-center but it is a perfect reach for me:

Almost all hooked up and installed:

All done:

And it's all powered from a switched circuit in the fuse box.

Pretty trick! With my bad luck my Suv will probably have the same issue. Starting about 3 weeks back my 2000 keeps blowing the 30 amp power seat fuse, but that's another story. Glad you got the fan bypassed. You really need it in Colorado!

New member and ExplorerTom you're posts are why I joined. I have read a lot of your threads. I really enjoyed the pics you posted of your trip to see the eclipse. I saw that you were talking about doing the Alpine loop trip, my family and I are hoping to build up to a trip that far (14.5 hours to Ouray). I have a 2000 xlt 4.6. I bought it ($450) from a customer at my old shop who was going to junk it after it blew out a spark plug. It needed pretty much everything front suspension related too. I have fixed all of that and the plan is to make it our weekend family trip truck. With a family of 5 (2 adults 3 kids 11,7,and 3 + the dog) it seems like the pefect size vehicle for the job. We are looking at roof top tents and planning on getting out on the road next season. I am excited to see any picture you take and read how you expedition performs over the obstacles of the Alpine loop. Also hoping maybe you could give me some info on what trails/ passes the expedition can and can't handle.
Thank you for all of your great previously and future posted info.
