Gentlemen, I getting ready to remove the sjb and will post pics or ask questions as required.

A few questions:
*Any tips on separating the sjb once removed. There are many tabs on each of the four sides.

*What is problem with removing relay and keeping the jump as a permanent solution?

*I've priced the sjb at $200 or so. Does the reference to sjb programming in earlier post mean that it isn't plug and play, so to speak?

You are charting new territory for us - so don't break anything. The second gens are at the point of failures due to age/mileage now so we are starting to see more & more issues with them. The early third gens are starting to join the pack now and then. Electronic razzle dazzle, got to love it...

Hope you are a Star Trek fan and "boldly go where no man has gone before".

I know, many people tell me I'm not " right".

If you kept the circuit hot there is a remote possibility of injury since all windows will operate at any time. It would be better to make the circuit hot only with the key in run or acc position.

It usually takes a few small screwdrivers to release the tabs on each side.

From what I have read it is not plug and play - requires programing. I would assume it is a generic sjb that is used on many models and configured through the programming.

As you can see, the boards are configured as a double decker. I’ve already done some prying trying to release the upper from the lower but this hasn’t worked. It could be that I’m too cautious so I don’t break anything. I can’t see any small screws and although one edge of the upper starts to release (pins easing out of cover) the whole upper doesn’t seem to want to release together. I’ve tried to remove both upper and lower as one unit, again with no luck.

Do a search on youtube for the following video. It will give you some ideas on taking the SJB apart.

2003 Ford Expedition Fuse Box Problem & Replacement

Yep, Bedrck, got the sjb out and the back cover off. Having trouble separating the circuit boards. I'll keep at it and thanks for checking in.

Stupidity update - it is amazing how easy all the circuit boards release from the cover once you remove ALL fuses!!!

Since it is difficult to separate the boards one of the easiest methods of fixing this is to relocate the acc delay relay and controlling it yourself or wiring it into an existing circuit as a branch. Let me know how you want to proceed.

Check and see if there are connectors at F33 in the sjb. If there are, things just got easier since this has power in start/run.
