I was thinking about putting one of these on. How sturdy is it? I'm thinking that I may need to step on it in order to get to the engine compartment.

its sturdy for lights but it only mounts in 4 places.... drilled 4 holes in bumper and 4 bolts that thread right into nuts welded into bar I wouldn't stand on it i just stand on tires and lean in.... if you would want something to stand on go with a brushguard... one I had on my old 97 F150 i could stand on due to it bolting right to frame... even "T-Boned" a older ford escort that ran a stop sign.... I bent the escorts frame and destoryed the car but after unbolting brushguard my truck had zero damage.... so my opinion if you want something to stand on or front end protection go with brushguard if you want something that looks pretty and can mount lights on go with pre-runnner bar

A brush guard is actually what I was originally thinking about, but I was told that i'd have problems mounting it since I have the 3" body lift.

I cant remember when they changed the mounting points for a brushguard for expy and f150.... i think the 98 are like the 97.... my old 97 F150 had a 3"body lift and a brushguard... the BG had a bracket that mounted to the frame and then bolted the guard to it.... so what I did was drilled new holes in the bracket 3" higher to adjust for body lift.... also on a 04 F150 I have taken the brackets and cut them and welded in metal to lengthen it for body lift. I'll look for some pics of old truck or I'll go find it and get more pics of BG mount.friend bought truck so its still around town.

here is the old beast with brushguard..... they can be mounted easily either by drilling stock bracket of BG or by welding a spacer in bracket...

I'm currently on my second push bar/ bull bar. The first one was more of a police-style one and it literally saved my truck. I had to go over a whoop at speed to avoid a rock and landed entirely on the front of the truck. The push bar took the full brunt of the truck landing on it, it was destroyed, but there wasn't a scratch on the truck. As far as you having a body lift; it will affect the fitment/look of the push bar/bull bar. This isn't too big of a problem if it's just the loop that comes up in front of the front bumper, but you can't go with one that has a brush guard for the lights, because it won't be covering the lights.

I'm sure that brackets can be fabbed up to make it fit. I'll be interested to see how it looks.

Anyone else think that the jeep in the picture needs to have the toe-in set?

thats the kids rock crawler, out of adjustment all the time, he will fix it and it will go out again, lol, this bumper will not be as wide as expy but the bull bar fits nicely in front of the grill, and my skid plate will run from there to cross member, im thinking it might look a little weird, but give it that more agressive i eat chevys look, lmao
this kinda the idea, i may extend the tubes if it looks to rough, but for now i think narrow will look alright, it lines right up to the out side of the head lights, only stock bumper is going to the bone yard, so its not a pre runner, but its big, solid, and will flaten a chevy real fast, or eat sports cars for lunch, its just dirty right now, but will get repainted any way, another project i may do soon is remove 3rd row seat, cut carpet and install a baha angle mount spare carrier, like you see in the back of the race trucks, want to get spare out from under truck, and clean things up, i will also be flipping the front recovery hooks so they lift with body lift, simple mounting them off top of frame, not bottom
