Trailer lights won't work

I've installed a new trailer wiring harness for my small motorcycle trailer, 4-pin. I tried connecting it to the factory 4-pin receptacle and a 7-pin adapter. Neither activate the lights on the trailer. Any suggestions?

Is the first time you hooked up a trailer

Also it helps to know the year of your expy

When you towed before did you use the 7 pin or the 4 pin connector

Make sure you have a solid ground connection or the motorcycle trailer

7 pin; I think the ground is solid

If your factory 7 pin worked correctly then the factory 4 pin should also be correct

I would suspect a bad ground or a mis-wired connector on the trailer

Can you read and understand wiring diagrams

Also do you have a volt meter
