another thing that gets rid of sharpy is expo dry erase markers. just go over the sharpie with the expy and then wipe it off. at least that trick works on dry erase boards...should work on clearcoat too right?

I would have tried alcohol or goo gone before going to town with the sandpaper.

Rubbing alcohol is what is in the expo markers that takes the sharpie out so straight alcohol will work best but it might dull the paint. Like someone said, I would try a magic eraser or clay bar first. It didn't scratch in past the clear coat so it should be removable.

Goo Gone works great. My wifes van was "tagged" last year with spray paint and the Goo Gone took it right off without harming the clear coat or anything. The guy at the local parts store told me to use paint remover but that it would take off the clear coat and probably the paint. What a dumb a**

Wow if we used sandpaper, a highspeed and polish on our kids here, family services would be all over us.
