I just purchased a 2017 Expedition Limited. How can I tell if it has rear load leveling suspension? Can’t find anything about it on the sticker or in the manual.

Thanks

If you have the window sticker it should say on there as it’s an option.

Do you have the towing package?

Yes, it should be listed on the sticker:

If it’s not on your window sticker, then you probably don’t have it. You can check the Ford ETIS website, enter your VIN and see what options came on your Expy.

Thanks for the info. The brochure is a little unclear in distinguishing between options and package components so I didn’t know if it might be part of the towing package. If I understand correctly the heavy duty towing package is standard with the Limited trim package.

Assuming I don’t have the load leveling suspension I believe, from reading another thread, that it’s not a too difficult or expensive upgrade. Am I correct?

You are correct Ed. The HD towing was standard on a '17 Limited.

To add Nivomat shocks, you'll need a pair of EL1Z-18125-A and they run about $160-$170 each, their dust boots are about $15 each, and new springs, a pair of EL1Z-5560-A which run about $75-$80 each. I believe there are misc washers, spacers, bolts, etc - all in you are looking at $600'ish plus your labor.

A good WD hitch would likely cost less and be just as effective if squat from towing is your concern. If its people or cargo loading up the Expedition, then Nivomats are the way to go.

The load leveling shocks are great. If you don’t have them and are serious about getting them, do it. Whether it’s for towing or not they’re a great option either way.

I don’t normally carry heavy loads in the vehicle but use a WD hutch when towing a heavy trailer. That being said I may get the load leveling shocks for the occasional trips with a full load of passengers. Not a priority but will do it at some point.

Thanks for all the help.

They look like this where coil springs would be on the rear. My last two trucks have it; it makes a world of difference on the ride in general. Adults in the 2nd & 3rd row always comment how smooth the ride is and some ask if there's air suspension.

Are those the ones from the factory or aftermarket?
