Just bought a 2017 Expedition Limited and looking to add tow mirrors. Do you continue to recommend these mirrors? have you had any problems?
Thanks
I have just installed Trail Ridge Tow mirrors on my 2017 Expedition EL Limited. I bought them from 1A Auto. I had to wait a few months to get them as they were sold out.

There are several models of Trail Ridge Mirrors for the 2015 Expedition. You must match up the features your current mirrors have with the Trail Ridge models. My Expedition has blind-spot indicators as the defining feature. If you don't match up the features of the OEM mirror and the Trail Ridge Mirror the new mirrors will not function properly. In my instance if I did not install the Trail Ridge Mirror with the blind-spot indicator a warning on the instrument panel would have indicated the blind-spot indicators where not functioning properly.
The mirrors are manual extend and manual fold. So by installing the new mirrors I lost the power fold feature of the OEM mirrors. I feel this is a small price to pay to have OEM quality tow mirrors on my Expedition, instead of the clip on tow mirrors.
These are for a 2015 Expedition, Trail Ridge and 1A Auto will say they do not fit any year except 2015. But they are not entirely correct. After doing my research I appears that Ford OEM mirrors are all the same from 2010-2017 (2018 is when the new Expedition platform came out and everything changed.) I mounted the mirrors this weekend and the install was fairly easy. I did encounter the reason Trail Ridge is claiming that the mirrors don't fit my 2017.
At the bottom of the mirror mount that attaches to the door there is the housing for the very large bottom hinge of the mirror. Where this hinge is located it is obstructed from mounting flush because of the
wire harness for the
keyless entry on the drivers door. You will need to reroute this
wire harness. I had simply pushed the wire harness above the hinge's location and mounted the mirror. This is what caused me my problem.
After I had mounted the mirrors and reassembled the inside door panel I found that one of the buttons on the
keyless entry was not working. I removed the door panel and removed the new mirror. By pushing the wire harness up to avoid the housing for the mirror hinge, I had pushed it too close to one of the mounting bolt for the mirror. When I tightened then nuts I the
wire harness was pinched and broke one of the wires in the harness.
After repairing the broken wire I examined the routing of the harness more closely. The
wire harness for the
keyless entry needs to avoid both the hinge and mounting hardware. As the wire harness exits the chrome covered trim along the bottom of the window I routed the harness straight up along the frame. Once the harness was above the lower right mounting stud and clear of the hardware I routed it to the left to the hole it passes through to the interior of the door. I taped the
wire harness in place.
After remounted the mirrors and plugged in all the wire harnesses that you need to unplug to remove the inside door panel. I tested all the switches, and the
keyless entry key pad to confirm everything was working. With the testing successfully completed I mounted the door panel to the inside of the door.
