This morning went to start my 2017 Ford expedition. 3.5 l Limited. Starts up OK and then after about five seconds RPMs dropped pretty low in the car idled really rough. I can’t even accelerate the engine. The wrench light came on and then the check engine light came on. It continues to start up OK and then does the same thing drops to a low idol and I cannot accelerate the engine. It’s now stuck in my driveway. Has about 65000 miles in it. Any thoughts? Throttle body maybe?

Go to Advance Auto, AutoZone, etc. and ask them to read the code(s) for you. Let us know what they are.

A malfunctioning throttle body assembly is a common problem with the 2015 - 2017 Ford Expedition engines.

Ford has issued a TSB about the problem, and some dealers were covering replacement of the throttle body under a satisfaction campaign. I do not have a copy of it.

Had a friend hook up a bully dog tuner/code reader and it read that the Throttle Actuator A control system is stuck closed. Code P2112
Sounds like I just need to replace the throttle body?

Yes - but I’d first check the wiring connection (and visible wires) to ensure the connection is not loose or damaged, or none of the wires are chaffed or damaged.

Look inside the throttle body bore - is it extremely dirty and gummed-up? If so, perhaps try spray throttle body cleaner first?

There are several posts on this forum on how to replace the throttle body. Most seemed to say it was easy - other than one nut or fastener.

Good luck.

Hi. I agree - before you start throwing parts on it, check wiring connection for any visible damage. Even if it's not visible it might be there, inside the wire (happens less often but does happen). You can do a quick voltage drop test to see if you aren't loosing some voltage to the throttle. Good luck and hope your problem solves fast.
