hey folks- I posted this in the 3rd gen category as well but no takers yet. So I thought I'd ask here as well.

I have a 2017 Platinum 4WD with HD towing. I'll use this to pull a camper (single axle travel trailer, <5000 lbs) on paved and gravel roads, and some rougher stuff as well (it's an off road camper with flipped axle).

My questions is this: can I just swap out the 22" wheels on my 2017 Platinum Expedition for 18" from the same year/generation? Like other Expedition or F150 rims? I'd like a lot more sidewall for towing and for rougher roads.

I've searched through the threads for info on this and have seen some conflicting advice, so I thought I'd start fresh. Thanks!

Yes. Or any number of aftermarket wheels.

F150 wheels may require you to trim the axle stub on the rear wheels in order to get the center cap on.

Thanks. Yes I've read that about trimming the rear axle ends to get the caps on. Are there any issues or problems associated with doing that?

Changing tire and wheel size would affect the speedometer operation, as well as the ABS, traction control and stability control calibrations for the vehicle.

OP asked about changing the wheel size, not the tire size. Changing the wheel size will have minimal effect on anything else.

Yes the plan would be to change the wheel size and use tires that would correspond to the previous wheel/tire size and height. So I plan on compensating to minimize any differences in height and circumference.

Then you will have no issues at all.
