I have a 2000 Expy, EB. Off and on for the last few months I have found that the front electric drivers seat will “re-adjust” itself after I have driven and parked it. Often it’s in a different position when I get back in to drive it. It doesn’t happen all the time but has happened enough to kill the battery twice. I think the seat get stuck all the way down or up and just keeps running till the battery dies. It’s not a daily driver so it may sit for up to a week at a time. Other than a ghost, why is the seat moving by itself? Do I have a short or lose wire in the door controls or the seat? I can’t get the issue to duplicate itself when I check it over. Anyone else had this issue?

I found that the 4 way adjusting knob would get caught on my short pants when I got in and out. Finally the knob popped off and I did not bother to put it back. Is something like seat belt tangling with it? Maybe the switch is not returning to center off?

Also do you have a driver 1 driver 2 switch to adjust seats and pedals?

The memory seats and mirrors can be assigned to a key fob. So when you press the unlock button on your key fob it moves seat, mirrors, petals to the memory it was assigned.

Could be that one of the memory positions was misprogrammed to move the seat to the limit.

I had a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee that regularly, later in life, would lay the driver seat as far back as possible. One time, I watched it do this lay back just after exiting and locking the vehicle. Did this pretty regular for a few years and then mostly stopped. By the time I sold it at the start of this year it hardly ever layed back. Think the Jeep got tired and then caught a second wind..... LOL

Yes. It does have the driver’s 1 and 2 memory switch.

Program both 1 and 2 to same or similar adjustments.

Yes, but if the missus has the other fob, you may get an earful.

Seriously...To test this, have a fully charged battery, or start the vehicle (assuming your alternator is good). Have both fobs with you (assuming their button batteries are good as well) then try both fobs separately. If the memory is set differently for driver 1 vs. driver 2, you'll see/hear the seat motor and/or pedal motor(s) working when you press the unlock button on one of the fobs vs. the other one - if it's the mischievous 'memory ghost', that is.
