Hello,

I was recently gifted a 99' EB Edition Expedition. I don't want to put a bunch of money into it, but I was hoping to make it as off road capable as possible.

My plan is to put as big a tire as possible on the stock wheels, and do whatever lifting is necessary to make then fit (e.g. with a leveling kit).

Does anyone know the largest tires I can put on the stock wheels?

Thank you,
Josh

The largest 17" tire is 54", but that will not fit within your body.
Stock height with No Lift, some have installed 31" tall off road tires with no rubbing.

The bumper needed a small amount of trimming so it wouldn’t rub but it’s hardly noticeable. The key is getting it into a good alignment shop after getting the tires installed. Big tires love to go out of alignment on every pothole you hit. I attached a picture of my build

Spindle lifts are dirt cheap btw it’s good option to lift a RWD expe without breaking the bank I think I spent around $300 for 5” spindles and 3” blocks for the rear

Sweet truck!

Awesome, this is really helpful. I’m planning to do some kind of leveling kit with the goal of getting around 2.5” of lift and seeing I can squeeze 34s in there. The 315s look great!

I have a 2010 El Limited on stock 20in rims. What's the biggest size tire I can put without having to lift?
