Aux Blower Motor Resistor Location? (No EATC)

I have an 01 Expedition XLT without automatic temperature control, and lost the blower fan on the LOW, MED-LOW, MED-HIGH settings. For a 20 yr old part the resistors didn't look too bad but it did fail the test for the thermal fuse. I am replacing the blower motor resistor network for the front...

    Blown Out Subwoofer

$500 is crazy! I put a Rockford Fosgate 10" DVC sub in the factory enclosure when I did my audio upgrade, and I am still happy with it a year later. You should easily be able to find a replacement speaker for less $100 and mount it into your existing enclosure. What Kenwood head unit did you use?

First Gen Expedition Rear control arms

I didn't know about this design change, but my '01 uses the 16 mm x 2.0 x 90 mm type. I am currently involved in replacing the upper/lower trailing arms on mine due to corrosion. I did have to cut the head off the driver side bolt on the lower arm in order to remove it since I didn't want to go...

4.6 L engine tap with exhaust smell

Check to make sure the plugs are seated normally. Maybe you can record a video and share it with us?

    Random misfire on 4.6

Have you tried swapping the injectors for 8 & 3 with known good cylinders and see if that cures the problem?

    Piston Slap

I think I have experienced this issue with my 2001 4.6. I can't even call it a problem because it drives fine, and uses no oil, but at times I have noticed a "rattle" when the engine is still cold, but once it warms up it is quiet. I currently have 191k on this and it has really led a very easy...

Help, california is insane, mpg mods needed

Clean burning engines are good and necessary when there are billions of vehicles in the world. You don't like clean air, then you'll love China. You can thank CARB for +300hp/+30 mpg Mustangs and being able to easily see the Manhattan skyline from the Verrazano bridge.

Help, california is insane, mpg mods needed

I have a feeling that any differences you find between an 85 and 87 octane fuel will be less than your measurement uncertainty. You'll have larger errors and more variability in other factors (unrelated to the type of fuel you are using) that will effect your answer more than any differences...

98 expedition runs out of gas at half tank

Was this problem ever resolved? If you took the truck into a parking lot and drove it in a tight circle (left or right turns), could you make the engine stall/run rough?

    Make and Model folks

-It has to last you 20 years -Run for 200,000 plus miles -Have only a $25k budget -Can be car, truck, suv. -You’ll never buy another vehicle and you won’t have much cash for repairs. I think if you maintain ANY vehicle, you should be able to get 200k out of it. I know you could spend A LOT...

    Rear AIR Suspension Concern

I have an 01 XLT 2WD (+180k) with self leveling (rear only) and redid my air ride last summer. It was incredibly easy to replace the air springs, solenoids and compressor. My system had been trouble-free for 17 yrs and all of the components were original pieces from 01. I went with Arnott A2148...

Stereo Upgrade - 2000 Expedition with MACH Premium System

My vehicle only came with Premium sound (no OEM sub) so there were no additional amplifiers beyond the head unit. I installed an aftermarket monoblock amp and a sub in the factory location. I have a Ford factory wiring manual for 2001 models if anyone needs a schematic.

    the tornado

Let's just say for the sake of argument that the Tornado does work and can produce a few mpg increase over a vehicle without it. What's stopping Ford, or any other auto manufacturer, from molding in an OEM Tornado into the intake of every vehicle they manufacture? Absolutely nothing. The...

Stereo Upgrade - 2001 XLT with Premium (Base) Audio

Thanks Moose. I'm happy with the sound and the bass is excellent for my tastes. I mainly listen to rock and like the bass to be tight and clean with good definition. The MTX is 0.6 cu-ft and the subwoofer specified a 0.7 cu-ft sealed enclosure. I felt that having the enclosure towards the small...
