So I just got the same codes on my 2004 Eddie Bauer 5.4 4wd that has 225,000 on it. We got the p0128 code and the p0171 code a few weeks ago and my husband changed out the thermostat and the check engine light didn't go out so I had it cleared. It came back on today and I had it scanned again...
Ok, front wheel noise solved, it was a brake caliper clip that was rubbing on the wheel. Changed out the clip and all is good. The other noise, no idea.
Thanks for the response. My husband has changed the brakes several times on this car so I doubt he did anything different than what he has done before. I have had the IWE problem a few years ago so I did check that and that is not it. The noise is loudest when driving slowly, but no other...
Brakes and rotors changed and the noise is still there. Now I have a noise that started coming from the front right wheel. It makes one noise when going forward then in reverse it makes a quieter noise, so I think I have two different things going on?

My husband ending up drilling through the bushing and putting a bolt in it. It works good a new! We got the full replacement linkage but it is not a heavy duty as the original so we are sticking with this fix for now!
My 2004 Eddie Bauer Edition has started making a clunking noise intermittently in the front when braking to a stop. Nothing else seems strange no noises any other times. Looking for some suggestions as to what to investigate. Thank you!
