I've had the rear wiper issue too. I remember my ford service advisor friend telling me about it just after buying my 07. I got out of the truck one day,was walking away and heard the whirring. Turned around to see the rear wiper cycling. I've had issues with the handle sticking so when I had...
Congratulations on the new place. That's awesome. I know how you feel about working in the cold. It's a balmy -22c here this morning and i'm very happy to have a heated garage to work in. I worked too many years laying on the cold ground or cement and it gets to your bones. Good luck with the...
Hey there, just checking in to see what's happening. It's been a while since we heard anything, and I know it's gotten cold out so,i'm not surprised. Just sayin' hello.
It's been a long time since I've worked on one of those, but that sounds electrical to me. You'll need a good shop to diagnose that issue. An internal speed sensor dropping out or a solenoid not avtivating properly. Could even be a pcm reprogram for an updated transmission. At least in my opinion...
4r70w tranny's are pretty bulletproof. Simple straightforward 4 speed tranny. Sounds like an electrical issue,or as stamp said, bad junkyard trans. No third gear, direct clutch. When it does go into third, does it feel like it's slippoing?
Usually when you get a junkyard transmission, the junker pulls the pan and removes the filter. Were you charged for a new filter with the fluid when it was installed? Maybe the wiring in the connector to the trans isn't seated/connected properly either in the connector itself or inside the pan...
That's awesome girl. Like the other lads said. The worst is behind you. Was there any visual damage to the piston,or is it like Toby said,a hot spot in the cooling system? What's the head gasket look like? Now to decide how much to spend on it. If that engine is anything like the three valve,you...
The other way around not having to line up the chains would be to remove all of the cam followers, but that would be a lot of extra work. And with it being cold outside, you probably don't want to go there. Don't you just love working on vehicles in the winter?? I just loved having a car on the...
That video guy, ford tech makuloco has some good video's on the 5.4l 3 valve. I'm pretty sure the timing chain procedures are almost the same. I believe the gears have dots engraved into the front of them as well. You may have to get that rope out after all.Good luck girl.
Interesting. If you have the front cover off, does this mean you have the other valve cover off now too? I wouldn't worry about the rope at this point. Look at removing the timing chain on the one side then concentrate on removing the head. I don't recall which chain is on first, you may end up...
The difference for me is that up here in the great frozen tundra, parts aren't cheap to buy. On my 07,the chain tensioner blew out which caused an immediate loss of oil pressure. I weighed the option of a used engine to repairing the old. A low mileage wrecker engine was/is upwards of $3500. The...
Hey girl. Been a while since I've been here. Took a trip across the pond to visit the highlands. So now you're to the point of pulling the head. In a navigator,i see that as an exercise in futility. That's going to be a nasty job. At this point, you should weigh the option of replacing the head...
