Yes, at least on my 2019, 100% need to raise the transmission to fit this pan in.
And as a follow up, no issues so far. I haven't noticed the harsh P->R shift since but I don't drive it very much. The transmission temp seems much cooler now as well, rarely see 200*.
Just completed this same update on my '19 with 53k miles this weekend. Thanks to @Wangle for the tips. Big takeaway up front, check your transmission fluid level. Mine was also about 1.5 quarts low from the factory. I'm wondering if all these transmission issues being posted could be a result of...
Another data point for this thread. Swapped to the new thermostat in my 2019 Max with Max Tow Package. Towing my ~6k lb boat with family and gear in the truck it ran 10-15 degrees cooler on average, both engine and trans temps. Highly recommend this update if you haven't done it.
@Wangle Awesome right up. This has been on my todo list and was wondering if anyone had done it. I have a 2019 with 45k miles and do a fair amount of towing.
I assume you just had to loosen the trans mount bolts to get the new PPE pan in place, then once everything was tightened up, no issues...
Interesting. It would be good to get some clarification. The way I read the post was that the '22+ had a redesigned thermostat and that was the better version to run for all models.
Looks like you ordered the old part number, earlier in the thread it notes that RT-1250 is the new part number for the 190* thermostat. I haven't done this but am following as my 2019 seems to be running a few degrees warmer than it used to.
Interesting and that does make sense. Still, disappointed in this failure. I wasn't able to find any other cases of this failure so hoping it is just a fluke.
Took my 2019 Limited Max in for service due to a front end howling noise. Assumed a front wheel bearing was failing. Just got word from the dealer it is the front differential outer pinion bearing that is failed. Truck has 40k miles and it will be covered under the 60k powertrain warranty...
