    Front end creaking

Going over speed bumps and making hard turns at low speed (parking), my 2014 Expedition EL makes some creaking noises. I’ve got an appointment with my shop to take a look but I’m curious what it might be. Any thoughts? I put new shocks and struts on about 30k miles ago. My vehicle has...

    Rear wiper

I just bought a new arm on Amazon. I replaced the arm and blade. The blade is longer than the stock blade and it works great.

Running Board Motor - Pin Removal?

Yes, I drilled out the rivot to take the rod off the old motor. I used a stainless round head bolt and nut to put the rod on the new motor. There isn't a ton of clearance so something with a low profile head works best.

Running Board Motor - Pin Removal?

I can't pull up my order for the motor I bought. I did a quick search by part number and this is what I came up with. As you note, the ad says it is compatible with my vehicle (2014 EL) but it also says its for 119" wheel base - send an ebay message to the seller to confirm. FYI - this one...

    Quick temporary snow traction?

Ha. I didn’t even think to look at the owner’s manual. Just to clarify, my Expedition is 4WD. I put the chains on the front because my biggest challenge was steering on the road up and braking on the way down. I never tried them on the rear because they worked so well on the front. Of...

Running Board Motor - Pin Removal?

On the 131” wheel base model (Expedition EL), the motor is pinned to a shaft the connects the front bracket and rear bracket. You can’t remove and replace the motor without taking the pin out.

    Quick temporary snow traction?

Boostedbus - I have a very similar situation at our cabin in Colorado. The road to the house is steep and windy. It’s about a mile from the base of the hill to my house and 500’ to 1000’ of elevation change. When I was out there over the winter, I was slipping all over the place in deep wet...

Running Board Motor - Pin Removal?

I took the whole running board off the vehicle - it’s just 8 x 13mm bolts. That gave me a chance to clean and lubricate the rear hinge assembly. To get the rivet out that connects the running board motor to the connecting shaft to the rear hinge, I center punched the cap end and drilled it...

Running Board Motor - Pin Removal?

The motor comes with the forward bracket and hinge. All I need to do is take the running board off the hinge and take the pin out. I bolt up the new motor and hinge and I’m off to the races. Here’s a photo of the motor/hinge I bought on eBay. I’m sure I can hammer and gnaw the pin out. I...

Running Board Motor - Pin Removal?

Hi all, I have a faulty running board on my ‘14 Expedition EL. Like others, the dealer wanted $2,500ish to fix it. I removed the running board this weekend and bought a replacement motor and bracket off eBay. It should be here Thursday. In the interim, do y’all know an easy way to remove...
