You might also check the molex under the dash near the blower motor. The large wire on mine had got hot enough a few times to partially melt the part of the plug so the fan would quit at random times. I ordered a replacement through fordparts.com .

Did they resolve the issue with just a bearing or did it damage the crank? If you don't mind me asking, what did they charge to fix it? I may be in the same boat.
