    2017 battery light on

    According to results of a Google search, a battery light that is "on" means the alternator is not charging the battery (among other things). With a reading of 14.5V, the alternator is charging the battery. First check would be to inspect the cables for tightness, and posts for corrosion.

    Not knowing the difference at time of purchase, and with a $7K discount, my 2004 XLS is just fine for the sole purpose of loading up at Costco. At age 90 and crippled, Costco delivery is utilized, truck just sits (19,800 miles) with a batt tender. Cloth seats, and seats nine, if needed (never).

    Radiator leak / coolant disappearing

    You can tell immediately if coolant is entering the oil system .... milkshake colored oil. Start with pressurizing the radiator. Simple test tool that replaces the rad cap. A deformed rad gasket will allow coolant out, and not be noticed due to evaporation. Check to see if coolant siphons...

    2004 XLS 4.6 bought new - 19,800 miles - replaced fuel pump relay in fuse panel.

    Don't think age has anything to do with starter longevity. Guessing it is the number of starts. My 2004 starts just fine, but not many starts at 19,800 miles (bought new).

    My 2004 4.6 has only required updated fuel pump relay in the fuse panel. Bought new. No other problems.

    Music from any source is a nice option. What I have learned from aging (90+) the most important option is ease of entry/exit.

    Am I reading your dilemma correctly...... you discovered your starter was faulty..... replaced the starter, now the truck cranks, but doesn't run?

    Just guessing..... might be the antitheft system. Also, if you have pedal adjustment, the wiring is in the same location. If so, you will see wiring going to the pedals.
