    power block

I haven’t done a completely separated setup. I just ran mine from the battery to a added fuse block which is always hot and use relays powered by a key-On only feed to keep the battery from being drained. If I had to do it again, or when it gets too cluttered, I think next time I will find a...

    00 crazy drivers window

My SWAG based on my time as a Service Advisor for Ford would be check the harness near the hinge area and behind the parking brake. May have a worn wire that is grounding out as it moves a little when expanding from the heat. I personally would check the continuity for the passenger side, and if...

Aftermarket Backup Camera w/Extra LED Lighting

Yes the white is the camera. I did play with positioning it between the bumper and the hitch receiver, but I didn't like the higher exposure to the elements along with it being a much higher risk for accidental breakage. Current placement is less noticeable when not on (but yes still plainly...

Aftermarket Backup Camera w/Extra LED Lighting

I know and freely admit that it is a POS cheap camera. I am just a firm believer in doing things nice, neat, and clean looking. Within the next two weeks, I will be touching up her looks and making it look nice as possible again and not like a 2o-something-year-old vehicle. It will also give...

Aftermarket Backup Camera w/Extra LED Lighting

I realize that this is not what many people would want to do, but thought I would share it anyway. Just completed the latest mod to "Sadie" our 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer vehicle(my wife named her). With the aftermarket head unit came a backup camera which didn't cast much illumination at night...

How to replace the positive battery terminal on 1st gen Expedition (2002) without new cables

I did the OP meathod myself about 2 months ago on mine. I am curious though if anyone has experience/opinion on a style of connector that has the point that presses into the cable without needing to strip it? Seemed to have merit even though it would not be for me as I will be replacing again...

The Truth about ethanol: Big oil is lying.

Machete, that is some interesting information to ponder. I am one to always keep an open mind and consider options by using my mind. While I have long said media distributes what they are told to and not an unbiased truth, I have a little reluctance to embracing the video portion. My...

New to us 2000 Expy Eddie Bauer with 5.4L misc issues. Advice please.

Update: Unfortunately my job is busiest when the weather is decent to tinker on the Ol' Gal. So since we are at the beginning of winter I am finally getting to some items I have been waiting to get done. Since we bought the Expy we have loved it. Been lucky that it is actually a pretty solid...

    Considering Battery Modification

The other reason why is the production of hydrogen ga by the battery. Spark can ignite supposedly. If you look at the owners manuals the advise against using both posts for jumpstarting as well. Usually the motor has a bare metal lift point which works well. However, not on mine. Just trying to...

    Considering Battery Modification

Hey all, I am considering a modification and would appreciate your input and/or experience please. Here’s the background and idea: My ‘00 Expy has a lift. This winter it started having starting issues which I isolated to the battery which was very old (I bought it a year ago). That’s no...

I thought I'd share my mechanical experiences on our new to me 1999 Expedition...

Didn’t see it mentioned, so I thought I would ask. In regards to the shifting lever stiff/starting issues, did you look under the dash where the lever cable is bolted in place? It is a known issue that the two bolts will back out and cause indicator position/shifting difficulties. Mine had that...

New to us 2000 Expy Eddie Bauer with 5.4L misc issues. Advice please.

I just don’t like not having control over the lights. Don’t want to flip latches all the time to kill them. Since I got this used, there are things not working and I have long electrical diags to do. If I can just throw a switch and turn them all off it would be best. 2000 Expedition Eddie...

New to us 2000 Expy Eddie Bauer with 5.4L misc issues. Advice please.

Well I cannot believe how I missed the obvious for so darn long. Yes I listened to past owner. I know I shouldn’t have done that. I got the suspension light to go off. Really simple. Turn on the switch under panel on right side. ****. Light off. Even though converted. So I guess the previous...

New to us 2000 Expy Eddie Bauer with 5.4L misc issues. Advice please.

Finally got through all my locks and latches. So far I ducked a bullet. All of them were minor issues. Thoroughly cleaned and lubricated them and now they work. One had a slightly bent rod that I had to adjust. 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition

    2000 Eddie Bauer 5.4L

For doing diagnostics I picked up the Veepeak obd2 adapter cheap. Then paid for the app called Forscan. Allows full reading of the OBDII modules and most of the Can-bus as well. Just be careful not to get a knockoff ELM chip adapter. They can be worthless. 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition
