Ahhh...still looks pretty good. A good dash kit will come with the trim ring around the radio (The one you are using would not be necessary) and fill the gap. Searching around the kits are usually less than $20.
Something odd about the dash kit you used. Is there a gap at the top an bottom of the radio?

Your in luck. You can use an “idatalink maestro” rr module...and correct harness. This will greatly simplify your install. This harness will directly communicate with your can bus in the car and retain all kinds of factory features....and add tons of new ones including engine performance...

Just want to understand. You bought a a radio from Best Buy. You bought the additional parts for the install, but they were incorrect. You did not take advantage of the free install labor. My guess is that ultimately the person installing your radio would have realized the same conclusion...
