Sooo...it's fixed! The oil filter housing from the junkyard was bad. ...or it got cracked. Doesn't matter. The sending unit that was the 4th new one (!) was also bad. ...or became bad. Also doesn't matter.
Lesson learned that sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and let it go to the...
Still leaked. But the sealant was not allowed to cure.
Had it towed to the shop just before they closed. They will figure out tomorrow.
Boyfriend still gets an A for effort.
Thank you so much for your help.
I will let you know what they say.
Also he wants to know if when tightening the sending unit, ( the spec is 10ft pounds, ) should there be threads still visible? He is afraid of putting a crack in the new housing.
We are at the parts store. He is buying the sealant and one more new sending unit.

Incidentally, a day ago we replaced the oil pressure sending unit. The old one...
Thanks!
Thank You ExplorerTom. Spark plugs were all replaced a few days ago. What is perplexing to me (and I know very little) is that it ran like a dream for about a half hour after the plugs were replaced. Then suddenly was really rough again.
BTW, I paid $1200 for it. It is fairly clean...
Hi there everyone I am brand new here. I just bought a 2000 Expedition with the 5.4 Triton. I took a chance and bought it at an auction (because the boyfriend can fix anything :).
It had a miss and a code for downstream bank 1 o2 sensor. Replaced that and the spark plugs, as well as the...
