So this is not my daily driver. Noticed a while again intermittent power issues. This engine has about 100k on it. Long story short I replaced injectors and coils and also put in new fuel filter and pump in the tank. Still had issue. So removed entire exhaust and only have manifolds on...
I also recorded some data when I was revving and idling. Short term fuel trim bank 1 0. Stft bank 2 0. Stft b1s1 0. Stft b1s2 99.22%. Stft b2s1 0. Stft b2s2 99.22%.
Quick update. I got a nicer obd2 scan tool which showed a bad cop on cylinder 1. Put a new one on and the engine runs much smoother. Still noticing a few odd things. After sitting overnight the fuel pressure slowly rises to 30 after cranking and running. Like a minute. When I smash...
Ok have made some progress. Grabbed a fuel pressure tester and hooked to schrader valve. No pressure. Maybe a pound. I looked underneath and remember when I last changed the fuel filter I broke a quick connect tab to the filter. I chopped the lines and used barb fittings. Well one of the patch...
Background. Engine replaced and has about 15k miles on it. Ran awesome for a few years and then I started noticing some lower power at load and high throttle. Missing and sounds like misfires in engine. It got worse and worse to the point of not being able to go up a simple hill.
No vacuum...
Quick update
I bit the bullet and replaced the heater core myself. Believe it or not it fixed the issue. Not sure why as flow was good through the cors, but if you have exhausted all options change the core. The heat is so hot I now have to turn it down. also removed the rod that I put in...
Omg same problem
So after reading all pages I am laughing. I have replaced my radiator 4 times in the past year. Same leaking location as yours, passenger side of radiator. What is strange is that I found a 5.4 engine from a vocational school that had maybe 100 miles on it. They had taken...
Well a $2 fix gave me hot heat. I tool a threaded rod and closed the fresh air door. I will remove in the spring. I now have 135 out the vents at 20deg. Before I closed the door I was getting about 110 but this did the trick. Hope it helps someone
Thanks for the temp reading. I did get the 195 thermostat. I may permanently close the fresh air door behind glovebox to increase heat. Someone posted similar issues with cold air in that area and also did that. Will keep you posted. Thanks
Just checked temps
Ok just verified recirc door to outside air is closed on heat mode. Also checked temps.
Upper radiator about 170ish and lower radiator about 165ish. Heater core inlet 170ish and return heater core hose 165ish.
Inside with the cutout behind glovebix heater core temps...
1998 Expedition 5.4. Here is what has been done:
Replaced radiator
New water pump
Blend door verified to work
Recirc door behind glovebox closed.
New thermostat
Engine gets to operating temp, all hoses hot, both heaterc core hoses hot.
When I began looking at the blend door, after I...
Thanks for the help. When I replaced the ac lines I left the high pressure cutoff switch off the new piping. Hooked it back in and reconnected the dongle and all is good. Always something small. Thx
1998 5.4 Expedition. Just replaced engine and put in new compressor, dryer, condensor, all hoses, etc. The A/C clutch is not engaging. Here is what I have done and found.
There is NO voltage to the low pressure cutoff switch on the accumulator. None. I jumpered 12V to the cutoff switch...
