P1071 and P1074 with rough Idle and stall

I agree with Hamfisted. I had a rough idle and a P0174 code. Sprayed every hose and intake manifold and couldn't locate the leak. Had it smoke tested and found a hose I had checked and sprayed repeatedly had a slice in it and smoke poured out of it. That took care of the rough idle. The...

The "Check Charging System" warning that won't go away...

That's the one. There are several plug in connectors at the top. I didn't see it at first and only found it by accident when I checked them all for tightness and it went "click".

The "Check Charging System" warning that won't go away...

When I had that issue, it turned out one of the plug connectors at the top of the fuse box wasn't seated all the way in. I too replaced the battery, alternator and even the PCM before I found the connector loose and not seated. I had all the same symptoms you described.

    Rattle Trap

My front doors rattle on rough roads. When I unlock the doors, the worst of the rattling stops. Rear doors don't rattle.

Passenger Side Ignition Coil (Last one all the way in back)

Hamfisted is right about the GearWrench. I couldn't have done it without it. Great tool. Not sure about the 2006, on my 2003 the only thing I removed was the plastic cover over the throttle body. I climbed up and practically laid on the engine and approched it from the right side of the plug...

Rounded ignition coil bolt 03 EB

I stripped one when I cross threaded it on cylinder 7. The only place I was able to find a new one was at the dealer. I am sure they are a available elsewhere, but Lowes and Home Depot didn't carry that size. They are cheap.

    Cost of Ownership

Trainmaster, agreed. Just had a spate of issues this past year that consumed a lot of my time and energy. That being said, a new one on the lot at the local dealer is about $70k plus tax and fees. The cost of ownership for the six years that I have had it seems like a bargain.

    Cost of Ownership

Some people on this site seem to have had few, if any problems other than maintenance. I have never had a vehicle with as many parts that have failed as my 03 XLT 4X4. If I didn't do the work myself, I would never have kept it. I love the beast, drives great, but the number of parts that have...

    Check engine light on p0356

I believe you have to clear the code first with an OBD reader. I had to with mine.

    Fuse box

What year? This one solved my problems on my 2003.

Spark plugs and ignition coil problem - 2004 EB 5.4L

Did you replace your COPs with OEM Motorcraft or another off brand? Some of them on Amazon for instance are known for a short life span.

Need help tracking a vacuum hose

It goes through the firewall behind the battery. I found mine hanging down and reattached it. It has a platic cover on it.

Miss fire and cracked throttle body

If you are mechanically inclined and money is an issue, spark plugs are only 40 bucks if you replace them yourself. You could then get a decent throttle body from a salvage yard for under 30 dollars and clean it and install it. Unfortunately with the 5.4, if you pay someone else to do it it...

    rear side window actuator replacement

I replaced mine a couple of months ago. There is a great video on YouTube that shows you how step by step. It's not as bad as it seems, it took me about 2 hours taking my time. I bought an OEM regulator from ford after reading reviews on some aftermarket ones.
