Take it from a guy who went through the same query and search.
Don’t do it. Just because you technically can. Doesn’t me you should, and doesn’t mean you want to.
The expedition is a great vehicle. Comfortable and capable. But, (as said in posts before me) not very stable at speed when...
Yah - you just need to set up that hitch correctly.
Husky TS is a good hitch - my Father In-Law has one. I’ve debating getting on.
Check some YouTube videos and you’ll be good to go man.
You’ll get some sway regardless based on the length of the trailer. That 29 is probably 32 or more tip...
Not all vehicles are that way. Trucks have a noticeably higher rear wheel well. Or at least mine all have.
Anyway, thanks for confirming it was normal.
They are difficult to dial in on the TT set-up. So that’s a pre-warning. The IDRS gives a bit of extra body roll as well. So if you’re coming from past trailing experience on a truck or other SUV just know it’ll be different.
Not looking for a level area. When setting up the hitch to confirm correct weight distribution you measure fender height before hitching, after hitching but before distributing weight, and then after hitched and weight distributed.
It’s to make sure you’re not over/under distributed.
So the...
Curious, i noticed something kinda strange when measuring my EL fender well height and setting up my W/D hitch on the Expedition.
My rear fender well is LOWER than my front when sitting on level ground, unloaded.
Nothing CRAZY - but (going from memory) the front was 36 1/4" and the rear was...
looking at these - but my ‘17 EL is 2WD - is there that much of a difference that these won’t fit?

Manufacturer just said they haven’t tested. So figured I would post here to see if anyone...
I do need to take it in and get a fully accurate weight. I have been guessing on the highsides for everything. Only one battery and spec says 612 hitch weight dry. I don’t ride with full water. And load on the front storage on the trailer is maybe 50lbs of tools/gear + 2 propane tanks. I try...
Went to the trailer today to give it a once over and the more I look at that factory storage platform the more I think it’s a good idea with negative results.
Going to remove and solid mount the spare to the rear bumper and do a hitch mounted bike rack for the family bikes.
Camping again in 2...
I’m going to the trailer this afternoon to really give it a good once over.
I had a thought on what may be causing my “bounce”. The trailer has a storage rack built into the rear bumper that swings down and locks in place with 2 set pins. It’s almost always loaded with 4 bikes when we head...
