    No Crank

Thank you so much. This made the diagnosis pretty straight forward. Big drop between the positive battery post to the cable. Went to remove the terminal to investigate and it peeled off when I turned the wrench. You wouldn't have noticed on visual but it had hollowed it's self out and was only...

    No Crank

1998 xlt 4.6 , Moved my car from a parking spot to my parking spot to wash and clean for sale. unlocked with key fob started car and switched spots no big deal. Washed the car (20 min) and went to start it up and power door locks wont work (they try) no ignition, anti theft nothing. just a dead...

    I'm Stumped

Yeah, negative battery cable, engine to body and body to chassis required repair or replacement. I cleaned up all the other ones I could find. Runs nicer than it has in a year.

It lives!!!!! OK, I've got this Expedition running real nice now, here is what I think the problems were and how I solved them. At first glance the crank/no start with no codes issued made the vehicle appear to have a bad fuel pump. I replaced it and was totally wrong, I didn't notice the PATs...

To splice or not to splice?

Replacement it is. I was leaning that way because this vehicle seems to be ground sensitive

To splice or not to splice?

Negative battery cable is awful short, it barely reaches the post. I reconnected the terminal after cleaning things up a bit but would like to assure that the connection is going to stay good. It looks like the terminal has been replaced before and it looks like someone just cut the old...

    I'm Stumped

Yeah, that's my next move. I reinstalled the GEM/CTM took the battery down to the parts store to have it load tested (it's fine). Cleaned the terminals and whatnot, and the darn thing started and ran. The idle is still wonky but the damn thing runs now. I was noticing those connectors at the...

    I'm Stumped

Update, I removed the GEM/CTM modules and inspected for moisture or other damage. None present, so I checked all fuses and relays. Again everything checked out fine. Cleaned and applied dielectric grease to everything. Now that the GEM/CTM modules are out of the vehicle I will be checking ground...

    I'm Stumped

OK, after a weekend of working "real estate broker", I'm back at it today for a few hours. ***** getting real, hooked up my battery charger on 100 amp starting boost. Guess what, no theft light flashing and the vehicle will start. It does die right away but, I now really think I have a short or...

    I'm Stumped

Back at it this afternoon. I have a 1v voltage drop on the pmc circuit with the key on. Seems like I'm being lead down the PCM river.

Yep thats what I'm chasing down. I'm just not trying to throw parts at it.

I have a new key cut hoping to pair it with the other one once I chase this down. The old key works when this is not stuck on theft mode. I've actually got it to start a few times. but it always goes right back to theft mode.

    I'm Stumped

Yeah, that's not going to happen for a electrical issue. I'll keep checking relays, fuses, wires, circuits and modules for issues until I isolate the problem. If it is the pats system I may have to go to the dealer. Battery and connections checked out no draw overnight. All related fuses, links...
