B.S. Have you ever seen or even heard of an insurance company tow the carnage of the wrecked truck, demolished camper and 8 human carcasses over to a cat scale and weigh everything to ensure it was below the rating posted on the doir sticker. Half joking, but the fear mongering statement has...
Because magic stickers. There is little difference between these models in towing capacity that justifies the huge uncharge that they get to stick it to you so you can tow your camper.
Everyone can read the brochure and know the regulations but at some point you need to have some balls and...
Newb here but I am curious is to why the setup was weighed 4 times (including the truck by itself).
Just from the truck weigh and WDH loaded, you can extract:
A. Truck empty = 6420
B. GCW = 13860
C. Trailer = 7440 (B - A)
D. GCWR loaded = 7120
E. Tongue Weight = 700 (D - A)
F. Tongue % = 9.4%...
Yeah I will be adding around 2k in gear which should be closer to 1000 lbs of tongue weigh total. I will be adding about 400 lbs in the truck as well so GVWR will creep a little north of the 7500 lb rating on my truck.
Yes, I am doing a partial move. I have a nice floor jack and some jack...
Correct. I will have more weight but tongue percentage should be similar (I will be adding g back the batteries and propane tanks to the front but will counter it in the rear with a generator and other equipment. Awesome tip on the Flying J app!!!
I will be towing a 26' travel trailer from the Pacific NW to the east coast. I weighed truck and trailer empty (I mean if it wasn't bolted down, it was removed!). Truck was 6280# and trailer was 6520#. Trailer will likely be 8k#+ when loaded.
Setup has the following:
-Trailer brake...
Power density can't really be compared to a sohc engine. The powertrain is suppose to be relatively light for the size. I couldn't get any info on the 7.3 compression ratio, but the GM 6.6 is 10.8:1 while the HD 6.0 GM workhorse was 9.7. I believe the 6.2 Ford is 9.8, which is also a tough...
Ok, it's ben awhile since I have been on these forums. Lot's of changes done to the truck. When I first got it in September, I was having lot's of issues with the Catalytic converters being clogged. I also cracked a spark plug, but it seems that was just a one-off thing. I found a nearby...
Could have done without the lecture. It is not a huge complaint, I just think it could do better. The s/c has an internal bypass, so mpg should be only marginally worse than a normal 2011 Limited on 33s. If 11-13 mpg is whay they are getting, than so be it.
On my intro post I stated that I was a first time Expedition owner. I totally forget I had a 1998 Eddie Bauer similiar to this for a short time! The Wisconsin winters were harsh on it so I ended up trading it in.
Yours looks fantastic!
